Invited to a party, they needed appetizers. I took 2 blocks of cream cheese, mixed with about 1/2 lb diced lebanon bologna and used a small bunt pan lined with saran wrap for a mold. Let that sit in the fridge for at least a day so the flavor traveled through. This was a big hit with the guys. I made my own cream cheese using plain vanilla yogurt strained in the fridge in cheesecloth for 3 days, periodically dumping off the whey until it became firm. Rolled that into logs and coated with chopped walnuts and craisins and wrapped in waxed paper until needed. This was a gal favorite. I served these with a variety of ritz, club and grain crackers and I was praised nonstop for my wonderful, tasty appetizers that made the party " oh so special".

Try a party size recipe of two blocks of cream cheese, 5oz jar of feta stuffed olives, another of jalapeno stuffed olives, a little olive juice from each to soften, fresh cooked bacon, chopped, mix everything and roll in walnuts. I used the dirty martini recipe as a base and was also inspired by two other dips with bacon and walnuts. It was a hit at my work potluck!! Thanks:)

The best "block" recipe I have came from my local Kroger. As I was walking through one day there was a lady from Boars Head with samples. She poured "Boars head" "brown sugar and spice" ham glaze over the cream cheese. I use this all the time. Sometimes I even heat the glaze before I put it on the cream cheese.

Try this one, its awesome. Ritz Cracker, cream cheese, pour Pick A Peppa hit sauce over it. Very very good!

some other variations:

1pkg cream cheese and...

Muffaleta dip:

4 slices hard salami, chopped

4 slices ham lunch meat, chopped

1 cup shredded mozarella cheese

1/2 cup chopped black and green olives

2tbsp italian salad dressing

Mix cream cheese w first three ingredients, bake at 350 for 15 min. Top w olive/dressing mixture.

Crab rangoon dip or filling:

1 green onion, minced

1 can crab meat, drained

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp paprika

Mix all ingredients with the cream cheese and use either as a dip w crackers, or as the filling in wonton wrappers for crab rangoons.

Dirty martini dip:

1 5oz jar olives stuffed w pimento, chopped

1-2 tbsp of the olive juice

Mix the olives, juice and cream cheese. Done.

Can also add a little sour cream to make it creamier.

Kimberly M Collins 3 years ago

One more. Block of softened cream cheese, whipped/ mixed with 1/4 cup sour cream, 1 cup chopped green olives, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper. Put it in a big zip top bag and cut a whole in the corner for a homemade piping bag. Pipe into small celery sticks, or serve with chips and celery sticks for dipping.

My 13yo son & I can eat our weight in these--open up a piece of sliced ham(deli or sandwich meat,) spread with cream cheese, coat with a spoonful of diced jalepenos & roll them up. You've been warned..you will have cravings for them!

This dip in my house is known as the "pink dip" - it's a guest and family staple. Just like Taylor's above - sooo complicated - mix softened cream cheese with Pace Picante Sauce - either mild, medium or hot - never fails.

robbys mom 4 years ago

a favorite in our family is mix 1 jar of pineapple preserves, 1/2 jar of clear apple jelly and prepared horseradish to taste. Pour over block of cream cheese and serve with Ritz crackers. Sweet and spicy and oh so yummy!!!

I use a 8oz. cream chesse, with a can of smoked oysters cut in pieces, mix it and make a roll or a ball and roll it in toasted sesame seeds, with a few drops of worcestershire sauce , you can add 2tbsp of chives, and 1 tsp of dill seeds, in the mixture of the cream chesse, it make an elegant dip, and an exquisite snack, with crackers

Katie 4 years ago

You can also roll cream cheese in freshly cracked black pepper. Sounds strange, but oh so tasty.

Dawn Martin 4 years ago

Also try Heinz 57 over a block of cream cheese!

Kat 4 years ago

I always roll cream cheese in toasted sesame seeds and top with soy sauce!! So yummy serve with ritz crackers

Try this if you like pickles, you will not be disappointed! Dill Pickle Dip: 8oz Cream Cheese, about 1/2 cup Dill Relish or more if you like more, 1/2 Tbsp finely chopped white onion, dill pickle juice just to get the correct consistency and stir it all together. Serve with Wavy Lays or Ruffles. Note: I use Del-Dixie brand pickles, they seem to give it the best flavor :)

I make a mexican dip that always leaves people asking, "How did you make that?!" Equal parts cream cheese and sour cream. Mix in powdered taco seasoning (as much or as little as your taste buds desire). Spread on a platter and top with fresh veggies; I usually chop up some tomatoes, green and red pepper and green onion. Finally, top with a grated cheese blend and another sprinkle of taco seasoning. Seriously, this dip will disappear almost as soon as it hits the table!

Lisa 4 years ago

My favorite is cream cheese with Western salad dressing and garlic powder. I call it orange dip. Goes great with veggies or crackers.

Thx, Nanette! That's one I hadn't heard of :)

Nanette 4 years ago

I do a quick spinach and artichoke dip with 1 package of spinach, drained, 1 can of artichokes, drained, 1 package of cream cheese, and 1 jar of alfredo sauce (any brand will do, but the Classico Four Cheese or Roasted Garlic work well.) Soften the cream cheese in the microwave for about a minute, then stir in the other ingredients. Add salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder to taste.

Aloha Kathy 4 years ago

For easy variation on dump recipes, I take a fork or knife and swirl the cream cheese out on the plate. It's also fun to mix flavors (i.e. Strawberry w/chocolate fudge!)
