Packable Lunches

I was talking to a group of members from my cooking site The Handicapped Chefs Cooking Network the other day and there were chatting about how much it cost to buy lunch everyday on there lunch break from there jobs .

Most of the complaints were that the extra value meals are not really enough or they were not that good and if they went to a nice place it was really costly, So I decide to share with them some quick and easy creative meals that they can bag up for lunch plus a few ways to save some money and still eating well plus I want to try to keep it as healthy as possible.

One thing I would do if I was trying to save a little money plus eat better is to go to a local supper market and check out the salad bar and make a quick salad they are not to costly plus you can make it to please your taste buds Would suggest a quick Oriental Salad all you need to do is go to the salad bar use some diced chicken, crunchy oriental noodles, lettuce of your choice, a little sweet and sour sauce this would really be a nice inexpensive salad.

You can also do what I call a UN sandwich...it's just a few slices of your favorite deli meat a handful of crackers from the salad bar and a wax pack of your favorite cheese and your beverage of your choice then enjoy. Now if that not what your trying to do you can run over to the bakery in the super market and grab a nice hard role the go get a few slices of you favorite deli meat fresh from the deli then go rite over to the salad bar and make a tasty sub sandwich using the deli meat, lettuce, tomato and even cheese with a nice pickle slice.

All of these ideas cost no more than 5 dollars and are tasty and really healthy and the best thing is you made what you wanted.

Packable Lunches

Now I know that I started this article how you can save money but still eat out if you don't want to pack your lunch but if you really want to save some money and eat a lot healthier it's better to fix it yourself.

Now what I going to do is give you some really creative lunches that I think will please your taste buds but also very healthy to and most of all it will be a conversation while at the work lunch room..... One thing I like to do is make my wife a grown up pb&J sandwich that's a peanut butter and jelly for those who don't know ...All I do is get some whole wheat bread and some all - natural peanut butter I add a slices of green apples, banana's or even raisins, she has even had the Elvis sandwich which is pg&j with banana and fried bacon on it.

Another thing is to make a quick rice salad using brown rice and quinoa and I add your veggies to it ....Here is a quick recipe....2 cups of your favorite grains, veggies of your choice steamed or roasted, a handful of pine nuts or sesame oil a little cheese, olive oil and a drizzle of lemon juice.mix it all together and you have a great tasting and healthy salad.

Another great lunch meal treat is a nice tasty wrap ....but lets be creative and not use deli meat ...lets try a nice chicken or turkey salad on a whole wheat tortilla wrapped in spinach.

One of my favorite box lunches I do for some of my clients is a Antipasto lunch box and here is a very friendly version of one it starts with whole grain crackers, I add slices of grilled sausages which you can make the night before I halved cherry tomatoes and goat cheese this is a great combination. But my favorite is the salad in a jar .....Now I know packing a healthy salad for lunch is a little tricky because you need a separated container to stop the salad from getting soggy and messy here is what you do....pour a small amount of your favorite dressing in the bottom of a mason jar then layer your favorite ingredients ending with the shredded lettuce on top ...When your ready to eat just shake up the jar so everything get nicely tossed together.

We all know there are plenty of way to create bag packable lunches I hope I help you out with a few ideals here today ...Now don't forget to re-work your left-over dinner meals on some of these creative packable lunches night then enjoy what you have done by sharing them with family and friends .............Happy Eating.
