A Skillet Dish You can't resist
When you go to Silver Dollar City, the wonderful smells of food cooking around the park are hard to resist. Unlike many theme parks that seem to just have burgers and pizza, SDC has incredible delectable treats just waiting to be discovered throughout. One of these treats will find you a hundred yards away, the smell of cooking potatoes and onions will greet you before you can discover what it is. And then you come upon it... a giant cast iron skillet filled with onions, potatoes, okra, and meats slowly cooking, being pushed by a cast member with a giant wooden spatula.
When you order a Silver Dollar Skillet, you get a heaping pile of warm, hearty goodness. It is easy to finish off a bowl and want to go back for more.
But when you can't go to SDC, or in those cold months when a skillet dish would be the perfect thing to eat but you can't because the park is closed, now you make it at home!
After eating this on nearly every visit, my mother came up with her own version of the recipe. Besides being crazy delicious, it is easy to make. The Unofficial Silver Dollar Skillet recipe can be made using your leftovers. Don't like corn? Leave it out! Don't like Okra? Leave it out! You can vary this recipe quite a bit and it will still be delicious!
For example, there are two different skillets at SDC. This version is the everything version. If you want the more potatoey version, leave out the okra and corn, and make sure you use sweet potatoes and white potatoes. You don't even need the meat if you don't want to!

- Potatoes (White, Red, and/or Sweet), Cooked and Chopped
- Chicken, roast, and/or polish sausage, Precooked
