   Complaining about rotten food in a restaurant
   
   What would you do next if you started eating a meal in a restaurant  (knowing the food was rotten) and you complained to the restaurant owner or manager who said in a loud voice to you "No-one ever complains about the food here!!!!!"

   I would remain calm and suggest the owner/manager taste the food I have been served. I would also point out; that the best of restaurants receive complaints; how those complaints are dealt with is the important thing. I would suggest that a lack of complaints is not necessary a reflection on happy diners but perhaps their diners lack of trust in their complaint being dealt with professionally, after all had I thought I would be shouted at; I too would refrain from complaining. However, I would certainly tell everyone I meet about my experience and would never grace the doorstep again, ever.

   If I knew the food was bad, I wouldn't start eating it in the first place, I'd just tell the waiter, then get up and leave. How could you trust a kitchen that had already sent out spoiled dishes? The cook knew, he couldn't miss that. The best policy is not to eat there at all.

   If it was that bad i'd get up and leave after explaining my reasons (out of courtesy).I certainly wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy something else to come out of the same kitchen.

   I would not ever begin to eat food that I knew was " rotten".    NEVER SEND THIS PLATE BACK TO THE KITCHEN....................NEVER
   
   
   As a food service professional myself, I would call the local  health authorities, remaining calm, coherent, and providing the needed information............name of restaraunt, address, name of manager, name of manager on duty, entree served...........exact complaint of meal and any other pertinent info.
   
   
   
   For those of you who might not know "who" to call, call the local news station AND the local health department.....let each know that y ou have called the other to the scene............tell them, there is a food/health scare, a human interest, community health issue..........BE ON THE SCENE when they appear.......be calm, be factual, do not be overly emotional.   State your concern, be willing to show your plate, acknowledge everything the owner/manager did to  make it "right" and to appease you............make it clear........your concern is for public health....( it IS, right).
   
   Please, understand the difference between poor service and rotten food.........it is vast and crucial.
