Do you serve something besides turkey during the holidays?

Turkey is the traditional main course followed by ham.  Do you serve anything else?

We change it up a little in our house from year to year, a crown roast is always festive, and if you like lamb, a rack of lamb with mint sauce and various sides.  Depending on how many people attend the event often dictates what the entree will be.

We are having surf and turf this year. Filet mignon and sea bass - affordable because there's only a few of us this year.

No one in my family likes turkey prepared the traditional way.  Plus my kids do not like red beef.  So we have pasta or dressing with an array of vegetables.

Not always the best example for a Chef Wannabee who publishes recipes and cooking information.

It is a tradition in our family to have ravioili and wedding soup for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.  We also have turkey, ham, and all the other traditional foods.

Last year I broke tradition and discarded the usual, and to me boring, Christmas dinner replacing it with a vibrant green salad with goat cheese, nuts and balsamic dressing, an elegant and delicious seafood lasagna and a decadent date pudding for dessert. Everyone loved the dinner.

We have a tradition of making homemade lasagne. Takes two to three days to prepare, but it's sooo worth the effort!

We tend to keep things informal and have finger foods and pitch-ins for Christmas. I may do a turkey this year, since the big family meal is on Christmas Eve and we'll just be at home for Christmas Day.

Traditionally we get a spiral sliced ham. Everyone seems to prefer ham to turkey. I do not usually eat ham during the year, even though I love it, so it's a real treat to have this during the holidays.
