What are the negative effects of coffee??
I drink my 3-5 cups every morning thru afternoon,is this ok for my body and mind..?
Well caffeine is an unfamiliar substance for your body. Constant and great exposure to it can cause twitching, uncontrollable shaking, and dilation of the eyes.
It is, however, a weak addictive drug. If you become addicted to it (5 cups of coffee a day for a year will do the trick) you'll suffer minor headaches on a regular basis that tylenol and advil just don't seem to cure. Refraining from drinking caffeine for about 2 weeks will break the addiction though you'll have a constant headache during that period.
I can say i've had the constant headaches if I dont drink my coffee shortly after waking up in the morning and my body is already addicted to it to the point that it is difficult to function without it!! Wow..maybe I can ween myself off a little bit at a time...dang Starbucks!!!
I know there are herbs/teas and other similar alternatives I'm just not so sure what will do the trick like coffee...
Thanks for the response skies.
It'd be much easier to cold turkey with it. It's not like nicotine or alcohol where the effects are crippling when you break addiction it's just like having a sinus headache for a couple weeks.
Medicine normally doesn't work for the headaches caused
There are many positive effects of coffee to go with the negatives. All sorts of studies are starting to show that black coffee with no sugar can reduce the risk for certain types of cancer, increases short term memory, reduced risk of Alzheimer's disease and Dementia (3-5 cups a day) , reduced risk of gallstone disease, reduced risk of Parkinson's disease (3-5 cups a day), reduce the incidence of cirrosis of the liver, and is said to be an antidiabetic. It is starting to look like there are more pros than cons. That being said it is highly addictive. I have a serious habit and sadly I take mine in a giant cup with a half cup of sugar and a ton of creamer. So I'm sure when I finish my morning pot of coffee there are more negatives than positives. If you want to phase it out start mixing half regular with half decaf.
Ok so there is some good besides just keeping us awake and alert.
But, are these positive effects due to the caffeine? or is it the same for decaf also??
By what I have read in my years of trying to justify my coffee consumption, some of it is the caffeine and some of it is the high levels of antioxidants in the coffee bean. Even decaf has caffeine in it, just in smaller amounts. The good thing is cof
Who told you that coffee has negative effects? What do they know?.......
Coffee makes me jittery and sometimes gives me migraine headaches so they are negatives which I believe a lot of people experience. There is decaff, of course, which is fine if you're only drinking for the taste.

What are the negative effects of drinking too much water? The rule is to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated and flush out toxins. What if your body doesn't need it and you overdose on water, what could be some of the negative effects it could have on your body?
