How often do you eat meatless meals?

How often do you skip the meat, and have a non meat-based meal?  Any favorites?

Every meal is a meatless meal in my house. I mostly eat pastas, veggies, beans and cereals. However, sometimes we add this stuff that's basically meatless ground beef to meals. Season it up and it's great in tacos, bolognaise sauce or even in biscuits and gravy.

Out of curiousity what type of meat substitute do yo use? I've had it in things and enjoyed it, but never sure what kind to buy myself.

My sister, my mom and I are vegetarians, so we are always eating meatless meals. I admit that I definitely could eat a lot more nutritional foods than I currently do, though I do now eat veggie burgers regularly. I like mine with a slice of yellow cheese (I'm vegetarian, not vegan), ketchup, mustard, and minced up onions. smile

Yum! I love veggie burgers! The Morningstar "chicken" like products are also good, especially with Frank's Red Hot sauce!

I love to eat meat, and probably eat far too much of it! I do enjoy veggie pasta dishes though and sometimes like to detox when I won't eat meat for a few days or a week!

Yeah, moderation is key but can be so difficult for many of us (myself included). I find that when I have things like pasta dishes, soups etc. it is easier to skip the meat than when I have things that I typically think of as meat's "side dishes"

At least once a week, and some week more more than once. And even when we eat meat we keep it to lean meat.

Probably nine out of ten meals are meatless for me. As I'm getting older, my body prefers to not eat red meat at all, although I'll have chicken once in a while.  It just makes me feel better in every possible way.

Only microwaved veggies. Or sweet potatoes in the oven. Otherwise, I always have meat.

I usually eat some form of meat 4-5 times per week. This may be 1/2 c of chicken in a Cobb Salad or 2 strips of bacon or a sausage link w/ my egg once a week. I love meat but don't make it the headliner at meals which are balanced with other forms of protein.

We eat meatless meat all the time because we are vegetarian.

Rarely. About the only meal I eat without meat is breakfast and that's only if I'm having something quick like toast, poptarts, etc. If I make eggs I always throw some ham or bacon in the mix. Meat is my favorite food group.

I usually have two meals that include meat a day, and I eat small-medium sized meals a day.  it varies according to my mood however

We do without meat 1-2 times a week. Every few months we try to do a juice fast for several days. My husband especially loves meat. Sometimes I make it for him and I just eat the sides. One of our favorite meatless meals is quinoa tabouli, hummus or babaganoush and whole grain pita bread.

I am a Catholic. We eat meatless meals every Friday during the lenten season and on Good Friday.THere are other days that we will have meatless meals.

Now, when you say meatless, are you referring to beef or do you exclude foul like chicken and turkey or seafood.

For Catholics meatless excludes Chicken and other foul but seafood is all right. However, being a Catholic in south Louisiana, giving up hamburger for seafood gumbo is not much of a penance. So my choice, we usually do not eat seafood either during lent.

I like meat--steak, hamburger, roastbeef, pork chops, etc. Giving it up is a penance that makes you think. Seafood gumbo, fried shrimp, fried oysters and fried catfish are good substitutes, but not much of a penance. Tuna casserole is always a penance.

Very true.  I typically don't eat seafood on Fridays either for the same reason, at least not "Real" seafood like lobster, scampi etc. fish sticks, chowder or something similarly basic I consider okay.

I'd say I eat meatless meals about 2/3 of the time.    I've always loved vegetables more than meat, even though I like chicken and pork chops and roasts, etc....
