When you buy a dozen eggs do you check that each egg is not broken or cracked before you buy?

I always stand there and check each and every egg before I buy a dozen. My theory is if I pay for a dozen I need a dozen. What about you? Do you pick up a dozen of eggs and put them in the cart or do you inspect each egg before putting in your cart?

I wiggle each one as well. If there is a broken one and it doesn't stick, I'll switch it out with a good egg from a different carton. At my grocery store it seems every other carton has a damaged egg in it.

That's a great idea because once an egg gets stuck to the carton, I don't see how they can be used.

Me too. I've seen people at the grocery store grab a carton of eggs and take off without checking them.

I bet those fresh hen laid eggs are much better than the supermarket eggs! I'm with you - if I pay for 12 eggs then I want my money's worth.

I agree, I wonder why a grocer would post such a note about eggs. If you get home and open the carton and if one or more eggs is unusable, then you have to drive all the way back to the store for a refund, and that would be a waste of gas.

I wiggle each one too! If I pay for 12 eggs then I want to actually be able to use each egg.

I do this too when in a hurry. If one is cracked/leaking you can usually see some staining on the carton.
