   Is it weird to order burgers "plain"?
   
   Like when I eat at fast food restaurants, I always order my burger plain or chicken sandwich plain.  I can't have the cheese, can't have mayo, and just think it's easier for them to slap together.  Is this weird?

   That is the beauty of the hamburger it can be simple or complex all depends on what you like to eat.  I like cheese, but I often get a simple cheeseburger no sauce as sometimes a non messy burger is nice.

   Not weird at all - If you pay for food, you should have it exactly the way you like it! This reminds me of a short story. I was working a drive thru one day and someone came in an ordered a cheeseburger hold the cheese.  I inquired - "Oh so you would like a hamburger" and they said "No a cheeseburger hold the cheese"...cheers

   Plain is just great. When I was a kid in the 1960s, it was a problem at McDonalds. I didn't like mustard, and my parents and brothers had to wait 30 minutes while they made a burger and didn't automatically squeeze everything onto it. That's why Burger King came out with "Have it your way."
   
   These days, I like my burgers plain from the inside out - grass-fed, nothing unnatural stuffed into the cow, even!

   It's a bit like ordering vanilia ice cream at a Basken Robbins, but hey if you can't have or don't like toppings, plain is fine.

   A truly plain hamburger would be a chopped steak. People eat those all the time, so there's nothing weird about it.

   Hell no!
   I order a plain burger all the time. Not only hamburgers, but hot dogs too!
   It's healthier and it tastes better.
   
   Why would you submerge your food in sauces & condiments if it tastes great?
   
   That's the way if you know if you like something - eat it plain. If you don't like it, why cover it with something you do and force yourself to eat it?
   
   Good question.
   I'm going to go through a WHOLE week eating foods plain and see what happens.

    No, not at all. You can always have your food your way. If you can´t have that in this restaurant you want to eat, go to another one. Is it not the customer, is the king?

    I love burgers plain too. After all I personally buy the burger to taste the burger not the mayo, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato or onions which many places smother their burgers with.
    
    You are paying for the food so it should be served your way.

    You like what you like.  There's no shame in that. You're the one eating your food, not anyone else. Frankly, I'll never understand why mayo is considered a standard condiment anyway, that crap is nasty.
