Fried corn meal mush. This is an old favorite my Grandmother made, and my children like it too as I introduced them to it to keep Grandma's traditions alive. This was what she fixed when you spent the night at her house. She made corn meal mush the night you came and you would have a bowl of it with butter, real butter!, salt and pepper. Some eat it with cream and sugar. Then she would lightly oil a pan and spread it in a thin layer put foil over it and pu it in the frig over night. The next morning she would cut it in squares, lighty flour it and fry it in butter! It was crip and yummy. Now I can't eat this, too many calories fattening butter and not much food value. It sure brings back fond memories. The Amish make this too and then pour tomato gravy over it. It's like tomato soup .They have served me this on a visit during a cold winter day.
