Okay, can someone tell me if those wormy-lookin' pieces in egg flower soup are REALLY mushroom pieces or some herb or what? The ingredients may be listed, but my stomach doesn't trust 'em! LOLI love the tast of egg flower soup, but just can't get the nerve to do more than taste the liquid part. I love texture in some soups, but only when I know exactly what the stuff is.....
Are you talking about the egg? When you swirl a scrambled raw egg into the boiling broth it makes stringy threads. there might also be mushrooms or sprouts according to the specific recipe.
No I don't think it's the egg. That part I can handle. It's the brown stringy things...

it probably is those mushrooms, they're good. it's a good idea to check if MSG is one of the ingredients. it's used often in chinese/asian foods.
