How To Make a Breakfast Sandwich

Breakfast Sandwich

Fried eggs, tomatoes and rashers is my favourite hot sandwich. I love the combination of all the flavours here

It is a perfect hot sandwich for a late lunch or quick snack at night. I do not make it for breakfast because I am not the best first thing in the morning so I only ever have cereal or plain toast.

But if you are one of those people that is full of energy and the joys of life first thing in the morning it is also a great breakfast meal.

Fried eggs

There are so many ways to fry an egg. I love my eggs fried quickly with the yolk left slightly cooked so that it is runny when eaten.

My sister will only eat her eggs if they are fried until the yolk is solid. I have done both here in this hot sandwich recipe, one for myself and one for my sister.

Rashers of Bacon

In Ireland we call these rashers. There are many different ones you can buy and use. For this sandwich I prefer to cook the back bacon rasher.

I use the streaky bacon when I am cooking a fry up with home made chips for my dinner. There are also many different ways of cooking rashers.

They can be grilled or fried on the pan. Do you prefer yours soft or very well done?

Streaky bacon fried until crispy is my favourite with egg and chips. But for this recipe I like back rashers well done.

Fried Tomatoes

There are so many different tomatoes on the market today that we are spoilt for choice.

But for frying I prefer the larger beef tomato.

My sister likes hers fried in big pieces and very well done.

I on the other hand prefer mine cooked in smaller pieces but also well cooked.

How you cook these ingredients for your own hot sandwich is up to you. The beauty of this recipe is that you can cater to all tastes as I have done here because it is so easy and quick.

I know the combination of fried eggs, tomatoes and rashers on the bun or toast looks messy.

Oh but it really does taste so delicious!

I hope if you have never had one of these sandwiches that you will make one soon. I guarantee you that it is a wonderful combination of taste and flavours.

I have made similar sandwiches but using sliced bread instead of a bun. Not familiar with what you call rashers. In the U.S. they sell regular bacon or Canadian bacon, the latter of which is probably more like your rashers...as it is a bit thicker, but round in shape. From the pictures, the rashers almost look like a thin pork chop. Am I close? Or is it just a different slice of bacon? Rated this 5 stars because I know the flavors would be good.

Rashers of bacon are sold in the UK and Ireland mainly in packs of 6. They are very thin slices of bacon either smoked or unsmoked that are made for the purpose of frying or grilling.

Peggy they would not be as thick as a thin pork chop and the taste is completely different. The Canadian bacon does sound nearer the mark. Thanks for the votes.

Naimishika thanks for reading they really are lovely to eat as a quick snack

Although it is maybe not the healthiest snack, it is one of the tastiest! :-) Definitely a favorite of mine, although I prefer the French stick bread.

I find that eggs and bacon "stick" with me longer. I have lots of energy and do not get hungry until much later. Besides, I LOVE how they taste. Thanks, How To-Answers, for the great recipe. Voted up and interesting (because of the introduction to "rashers")

I make a very similar breakfast sandwick about 3 times a week, it is one of our favorites. I fry my bacon, then fry the eggs, (we like ours well done on the breakfast sandwich). Then I add a slice of cheese, tomato and a little lettuce too and serve it on toast. Yummy! Great hub with good pictures and instructions. Voted up, useful and yummy! :)

I have never tried lettuce and cheese in a breakfast sandwich. I must say it does sound like it might be a different and nice taste. I will add these ingredients next time I make mine.

Thanks sgbrown for your recipe and taking the time to leave a comment.
