On many occasions you've come home and had nothing cold to drink in the fridge. You could just go ahead and put your drinks in the fridge if you want to wait anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 1/2 hours or you could use ice but using ice waters down your drink after sometime.
Putting your drink in the freezer takes around 45 minutes to an hour to chill below 50°.
In this instance you have been outside for hours and ready for something cold to drink and you don't like using ice and you want it quick.
You could always make sure you have your drink tightly fixed between two packs of frozen meat, which is what I had done for years and may cut that 45 minutes to an hour time down some or you could use a trick that I learned sometime ago.
I have found that the best way to chill my drink faster in the freezer is to take a wet napkin and wrap it around your can or bottle and then place it in the freezer. All freezers are different and are on different settings but I found that this gets my room temperature drinks below 50° in around 10 to 15 min.
How to Chill Drinks Faster Outdoors
This is the trick that you need the most. This will save you from any damage done to your social life for sure. You don't want to have hot beer and soda when you're expecting friends over for a cookout or to hangout by the pool.
Most of us know that using ice water in a cooler is faster than just using ice, this takes around 15 to 20 min. You can add an everyday household item to your ice water to literally cut that time in half or better.
So to get to it, here is what you do in order to chill drinks more quickly outdoors.
Break up all the ice while it is still in the bag, place ice in your cooler and fill generously with water. But not too much you don't want your ice to melt. After this is done take a package of salt and add it to the water, also being generous with the amount you use.
Using this trick will chill your drinks faster, this can take as little as 5 to 10 min and you'll still have time to get the last few leaves out of the pool.
