My Favorite Hand Can Opener for Safety

Everyone Needs a Can Opener!

I want to tell you about my favorite hand can opener. For several years, I tried electric can openers that did not last, were noisy, took up too much counter space, or broke down. Finally, I decided to just buy a hand can opener. Regular hand openers are OK, but there is still a problem with the cans having sharp edges, and the lid usually falling into the food. Then, I found out about the Pampered Chef safety hand can opener and decided to give it a try. I have used it for 6 years now, and have had great luck with it!

Be sure to see the YouTube Demos below!

This Can Opener Leaves No Cut Edges!

The Pampered Chef can opener is exceptional in that it leaves no cut edges after opening. It actually separates the lid from the can and leaves sealed edges. This is a big improvement in safety. Quite a few years ago, my husband accidentally cut his finger when he opened a can with the regular type of can opener that leaves sharp edges. It hurt him for two months. Also, my granddaughter had a close call when she was about 18 months old and reached into a trash can and got her finger stuck in a can between the sharp attached lid and the can. My son with his quick thinking pushed the lid down and released her finger without cutting it. That was scary!

Have you ever cut yourself on a sharp can or lid?

My Neighbor Told Me About This Product

My neighbor told me about the Pampered Chef hand can opener and how excited she was about it. She has three girls, and was really impressed by the safety issue and how easy the can opener is to use. She also showed me that there is a gripper on the device that is used to pull the lid off and you don't have to touch the messy lid. I decided to buy 4 can openers so that I could have one and my three grown children could have one.

Pampered Chef''s New Smooth-Edge Can Opener

This is the new updated hand can opener. It leaves sealed edges when opening the can, and is now made to be easier for right -handed or left -handed use. It also has a magnet that helps align the can opener with the top of the can. Another improvement is the can tab puller. One reviewer did say it takes up more space than the previous model, and the knob is larger. Another said that they love the new improved model.

Easy to Use Once You See a Demo (See the YouTube videos!)

This can opener is easy to use, maybe even easier than most hand can openers, but it attaches to the top rather than the side, and at first is difficult to figure out. Don't give up! I couldn't figure it out at first, and my neighbor helped me. The can opener is wonderful and easy once you get used to the "new way" of opening a can. You would think anyone should be able to use a can opener, right? And if you can't figure it out at first, you really feel dumb. But it isn't you! It is a new concept that almost everyone has trouble with at first. People have said they hate the can opener and have thrown it away because it didn't work. It takes about two minutes to figure out once you see the demo.

Kasey and the Pampered Chef Can Opener - What NOT to Do with Your Hand Can Opener LOL

I had to include this YouTube video on how not to use the can opener. Hilarious! Thanks for letting us laugh, Kasey. Most of us would be in the same position if we didn't have a demo!
