I am a fairly new to hubpages (in fact fairly new altogether to writing blogs or articles).
I wrote a couple of short articles for another site I will call T - much poorer quality stuff than my hubs - with 14 views they have given me $0.04.
On hubpages I've got just over 450 views (not much, I know!) for which I don't know what the overall earnings are and so far I don't see any reflection of this in my adsense account. But I do see that on the URL trackers page for 142 views the earnings estimate is $0.09.
It seems I'm getting almost $0.003 per view on T, and $0.0006 on hubpages.
I understand there are many variables, and I'm just talking miniscule amounts but nonetheless the differential seems to be by a factor of 5. T operates on similiar principles to hubpages - 50% share.
And on yet another site where you can just type in a few sentences of nonsense, which I did, I got $0.22 for altogether maybe 1 hour of my time - including fidgeting around with silly things on the site (the actual writing probably took 20 minutes in all).
I like hubpages, and my fellow hubbers are great and the hubs' quality is a cut above the rest. But it would be nice to know what exactly (well, it doesn't have to be too exact) the hubs are generating. And where does one find out what the overall income is. Otherwise one seems to be operating in the dark the whole time.
Can some of you guys shed some light on this?
Happy new year to all.
You don't get paid on HubPages because someone has viewed your hub - you only get paid if 1 or more of the following happens:
they click on an Adsense ad - check your google adsense account
they buy from ebay - check your cj account
they buy from amazon check your amazon account
Have you got your correct ID set up for adsense/google/ebay - if not you won't get anything!
Also remember the people who tend to click are the ones with a problem to solve which involves buying - you are likely to earn more from a hub reviewing a widget than one on the Magna Carta - though I did enjoy that one - just saying that some hubs are more commercial than others
Don't go by what it says on HubPages URL trackers page because that's just a guess. If it says $0.00 in your Adsense account then that's what it is.
HubPages can make you money, no doubt about that. Don't try to hard to find trends in statistics that are only in the hundreds. If you can get it to grow into the thousands on a regular basis you'll be able to see it far more clearer.
I don't think you can tell from a few 100 visits. After several months, you get a sense of what you can earn, but there are MASSIVE variations in click through rates and values depending on the subject/traffic/traffic source.
Paul suggested that some where between $1.00 and $5.00 per 1000 views was around the average. There are a few threads in the forums about it. I can't remember the exact one this is quoted from.
this thread takes me back a month when I got started.. or is it 3 weeks? lol... I feel evolved finally to a comprehension on this stuff.. at first its incredibly overwhelming when you know nothing.. if it werent for this forum and other hubs though I'd still be lost.. so thanx everyone for helping me.. new years resolution #1 gratitude, show it as much as possible for the little things we often forget about.. or dont take a moment to thank someone..

The views on the URL trackers page are only tied to people clicking on a link that has your tracker in it and 1) viewing a hub (any hub), or 2) signing up and creating a hub. As Darkside said the earnings listed on the URL Trackers page are only an estimate (actual earnings will appear in you adsense, amazon, or ebay affiliate accounts).
As Mark mentions, over the long run you can expect to make from about $1 to $5 for every thousand times your hubs are viewed. But earnings ultimately depend on who the viewer is and whether they click on an ad or not -- there are no guarantees.
I wasn't aware it was going to cost so much to have ads on my hub. I earned1.98 for a month and had to pay out nearly 100.00.so where is the money coming in from, when it does?
I am on SSDI and have little income coming in so I thought this would help a little, but so far it just eats up my bank account.
Hubpages is free and you certainly shouldnt be paying for adwords unless you really know what you are doing - the only other cost is your internet connection - and you could always use a cafe if that worked out cheaper than having it at home ?

How does one earn from articles published on HubPages? I have never earned anything, I have posted about 11 articles and one in particular has had over 4000 viewings. At the moment I have stopped creating new articles for the platform.

I joined hubpages some 8 months ago and have already published 37 hubs but up to this writing, I haven't earned a single centavo. I am old. I am a normal human being like you. I need money too like you. Whenever I read and hear a hubber shouting to the world he already...

Being new I'm not sure I totally understand the way to generate income here in HP. Am I to understand that one must have an Adsense account to earn income? I've applied for an Adsense account some time ago but have not heard anything from them. Does this mean no matter how good my hubs are and how...

Hi to all there! I hope that u all are fine! Hi To Hubpages team, What I am going to suggest is to add Chitika ads (similar to adsense) to Hubpages earnings. I'm saying so because there are many people whose adsense account are banned forever. This feature should be added to Hubpages as it will...

Have any of you found detestable ads on your hubs? It is a "game" with girls in bras...how distasteful I want it off my hub...do you know if we have a say in this? It has nothing to do with my poem and is disgusting to me.
