Question for Nelle Hoxie...

   I read your post about your achievement here after a year of publishing on HP and I am very impressed I quit a year ago after writing 7 hubs. I've been writing for AC, Bukisa, Triond, Break Studios, and Demand Studios instead. I've been making money at these places, I usually average between $100-$200 a month but never anywhere what you earn ($1000/month) at HP. I've taken a look at your hubs and I see an angle that I never tried in my hubs. You are actually selling what you write about in a way, which does make sense of course. I think I would probably have to change certain things I write about in order to duplicate the success you've had. If you've taken a look at the few hubs I've published here, they're mostly reviews about certain attractions, movies, and such because those are things I enjoy writing about. I didn't notice anything similar in your list of hubs. Do you think it is possible for me to have the same sort of success that you've had but with hubs about film, video games, music, and topics of that nature? Or would you say that what the topics you specialize in are more profitable?

      Hopefully Nelle has a reply for you, but sometimes the thought process for figuring it all out is quite involved and not worth a persons time to figure out a plan of attack for another person based on what they're doing and how they're doing it. It's a lot easier to talk about ones own experience. That is if they want to share.
      
      Nelle is specialising in products. And unless I'm mistaken it's more of a sales pitch, rather than a product review.
      
      I've got a bunch of hubs on various themes, and a lot of them are about How To Hub, so they're not a good example of what to do. Indeed, I make no Adsense revenue from them as I have removed Adsense ads. Though even if they were on there I'd not expect much from them anyway.
      
      But I do have other accounts. More information then a sales pitch or even a product. They have a mix of Amazon and Ebay capsules. They also earn Adsense revenue.
      
      Your hubs are more of an... experience review. A completely different angle. So you'll have to work it differently. Personally, I rely on the content of my hubs, when I publish hubs the number of hubs that I just abandon to fend for themselves (and be indexed by search engines on their lonesome) far outstrips those that I throw a few backlinks at. You however might need to make an effort with getting backlinks.
      
      I'm checking out "Superman Ultimate Flight: Six Flags Great Adventure" and its a nicely presented hub. It could probably do with some more text, to give the search engines spiders something hearty to devour, but otherwise it's going in the right direction.
      
      I'm not a rollercoaster enthusiast, but I have considered making a trip interstate to a well known (Australian) themepark because I reckoned I'll be able to get a bunch of free rides and the inside scoop on how it all works, as I have an old work friend who is now a rollercoaster mechanic. So the angle I'd be going with it is A Day In The Life Of A Rollercoaster Mechanic. I figured I could write it all off as a business trip. But that will have to wait until late in 2011, because early 2011 my wife has already booked me, her and my Adsense earnings, flights interstate (going in the opposite direction of my friend and the rollercoasters). The Great Ocean Road beckons, and I told her that she'll have to take some photos, I'll write a hub, and I'll make it my first writing tax write-off trip.
      
      But I digress, I was checking out your hub and I thought I'd do some keyword research for superman roller coaster. I'm thinking "As IF anyone is going to be searching for that keyword phrase". Thankfully I'm always prepared for a surprise.
      
      And indeed there are 8,100 searches a month for superman roller coaster. Which I think is a decent amount.
      
      It has an estimated average CPC of US$0.49, which is not bad either. Not sure how much you know about keyword research or how much you do (the estimated average CPC is relevant to Adwords Advertisers, but if you were to halve it you'll have an indication of the estimated average you might make) but with those two figures I'd not shy away from publishing a hub dealing with that keyword phrase (it's okay, I won't, I'll be targeting a different niche if I do get my chance).
      
      Personally I'd ditch the two outbound links that you have going to sixflags.com and wikipedia.org. Or if you're going to have them, tuck them in right down the bottom, AFTER your comments capsule and Amazon capsule. Give yourself a fighting chance that visitors will click on a link that's going to benefit you.
      
      Between that, a little more content, and some decent backlinks as well as other creative ways to get traffic (you'll have to put on your thinking cap and don't necessarily think 'online') hopefully the traffic and revenue increases.
      
      But if you do want your earning engine to be firing on all cylinders you'll need more than 7 hubs. Of course, think quality before quantity. But if you keep working at it you'll end up with a large quantity of quality hubs.

      Well, I was actually trying to figure out how to do that on here. Apparently asking someone a question directly from their profile is also shown publicly, the same goes for fan mail, so I didn't really see the point? Is there another way to email that I'm missing?

         I may be wrong,but I think when you ask a question on someones profile they will know you have asked.putting it in the forum they may miss it if they do not visit the forum.

         she did discuss this once in a forum, why she disabled her mail.  I believe she was receiving too much mail.

   Does any music stores (maybe iTunes) or movie places (the only one I can think of is Netflix) or game stores have affiliate programs?
   
   If you are trying for adsense clicks from what I've been able to gather entertainment, gaming, celebrities are all kind of low paying.  If you want to sell stuff you have to find someone who has it so you can sell it...

      iTunes is on the Linkshare Affiliate network but they're fussy about who they accept.  I got turned down even though I have my own domains.

   Can anyone tell me how i go see some on Nellie's hubs? I am curious of course, like other folks, since hearing as one hubber put it, she's  the resident hubber guru of Amazon. I put her name in the search box, and that's how i got here, which has been nice by the way .. but i still haven't found a Nellie hub.

   Stephen, it is hard to earn what Nelle earns, and I think you have to understand that she puts a HUGE amount of time and effort in to product and market research.

   I have read them in the past, Her Hubs,  I blog in a similiar way on another Site, I make slightly more, but mine is a bit more on the fringe of Spamming, I am always worried that I will get hit for spamming. I don't use Hubpages for this type of thing, but link traffic in different ways. I found very early that there was one easy way to make money online, and Reviewing roduct was a huge part of it. Also I have the benefit, of all the Free product I get sent as well.
