You could just stop speeding. You take the lives of others in your hands when you do so. People make mistakes, and it is negligent of them to do so while moving at speeds they are unable to control.

I'm not sure if this law/fine is still in effect, but if you turn right on red from the outside lane on a freeway off-ramp in Phoenix, you get a $375 fine. Motorcycle cops would park their bikes on the sidewalk and just wait from someone to turn right on red from that lane. Like that isn't breaking the rules tongue

Don't even get me started on cops.  The *most annoying thing is when I see a cop put on his flashers, to go through a red light intersection & turns them off immediately after.   Can't they at least wait 1 block???

Wow, how fast were you driving? What State?

That's not unheard of, actually, especially in California.

Nevada, in the Eastern half.  I didn't realize West Coast tickets were so expensive smile

GOOD GOD! What were you doing 300 in a 30 zone? Jeezy creezy.

ETA: Oh, to answer your question, I've never gotten a speeding ticket - IF I speed (and having once been hit by a car as a pedestrian, I do NOT do it often), I go maybe 5 MPH over the limit, and that's it.

In California they have jacked up the rates of traffic fines to unreasonable levels to make up for massive deficits. State, county and municipalities are all doing it, plus the fire/EMT have started in some areas to charge insurance companies of drivers from OUT of the county/city fees for response to fill in budget gaps.  More and more are jumping on this, which will end up being a "tax increase" just run through the insurance companies as every county and city will charge every other county and city's residents, meaning all residents of anywhere will always be charged.  Until we cut spending on all the crap, the freeloader programs, and the corrupt b.s. stuff, this is going to be the norm.

I don't know what the rules are in the US but in the UK you get 3 points for doing 10 mph over the limit, 12 points and your banned! caught doing 100mph and you automatically get banned! It takes 3 years for one penalty to be removed.

That sure is one hefty price of a ticket...bet you wont find yourself getting another one will ya?  Then in a year or less the fines will drop back down because nobody will be speeding anymore and the revenue will have been gone.

I just got a ticket last week, and I have yet to see the price. Hopefully mine wasn't THAT high, but we will see.

By the way, everyone should follow me and read some of my hubs.
