I think the goverment needs to offer insentives to companies to hire people who may not 100% qualified but partly and traing them. Also offer companies tax brakes that have moved out of the us to get them back. what do you guys think?
We do not have to increase the need for jobs. We already need a lot of them.
If government offers incentives for training, hiring and tax breaks, I think they are only interfering more in business.
I don't think more government spending and more control over business will help. When has it?
The need is already there, I couldn't get a job when I needed one, instead all the foreign immigrants had first crack at any jobs that came up and I got left on the side line, now I'm just happy working online.....working for others just seems so last year!
I wrote a hub on it. The misconception that a job is the only option is foolish.

You are right, and government seems to always make it harder for the self-motivated person to create their own business, by placing burdensome restrictions and requirements on small businesspeople. This is not new, but it seems to be getting worse. Why should there be a self-employment tax?
Because the government needs the extra revenue. It would get more revenue from general taxes, if the misconception of getting a job was debunked.
The only satisfactory position is to use the Economy for all it's power and reap the benefits. The problem is a lack of knowledge, because government continues to manipulate the school structure and it's funding, whenever it feels like it.
Thus, causing a detriment to the overall health and wealth of America.
Training partially qualified people is difficult! People in companies today have to "do more with less". Getting new employees and training them is seen as babysitting, while the real work piles up.
If you read the job descriptions for corporate jobs nowadays, you would see this trend:
"Self starter"
"fast paced environment"
"Quick learner"
"experience, experience, experience"
Translated to pure speak, this means that people want people who can hit the ground running.
I worked in corporate HR for about a year and saw how this works.
What do you do now, Green Tie??? I don't think I'd like HR. It was part of one of my jobs as a Finance Manager for a Cornell Cooperative Extension office, for years. And I gave so many people the info on their benefits, and helped them when they retired/got fired/got hired/got transferred, it all became old very fast. Always, people had questions I couldn't answer and had to research, and that took time away from my myriad other responsibilities.
Most people didn't "hit the ground running". There's always a learning curve in a new work environment, and some people catch on faster than others. In the long run, some of the people who were slower to catch on at first are much more reliable over time.

Should there be more cuts to budget in the short term, even with the threat of austerity looming?

With the income gap between the wealthiest American's and the soon to be decimated middle or working class ever increasing. How much more proof do you need that tax cuts for the wealthy isn't creating jobs or supplying wages that are holding their own against inflation....

After all of the bailouts, TARP, etc., it seems that Obama and Congress are just spending $ that we don't have like drunken sailors. Shouldn't there be more focus on creating jobs, and improving the economy?
