Training For Hubbers

   There are lots of good authors on hubpages here for sure.
   
   After working online for 10 years Hubpages  get a 10 out of 10 score. 
   
   I would like to see some real training on how to monetize my hub activities.
   
   Someone that is making money with various hub activities.   
   
   A no hype no BS person that would be willing to share with us how they are making  $50.00 a day online using hubs, blogs,article marketing etc etc. Selling clickbank books etc.
   
   Totally White Hat   The real deal Lets see it!!
   
   Is there any hubber that is willing to do this? 
   
   Kind of make a general outline of what we could do to make more money from Hubbing.

   As a new online writer/blogger, I would really love to know 'just what the heck I am doing here'?  LOL
   
   Funny thing is, I didn't realize that this was a 'money making' blog when I signed up.  And here I am, thinking... wow, you mean I could actually make money writing about the things that I love?
   
   I like it here!  Now someone teach me how to do it!

      Actually, I don't think HubPages is a blog, nor was it intended to be one.  I think that's one of the biggest errors people make on this site, especially when trying to earn money in connection to their writing here.

   Relache and Lissie are quite right - hubpages is not a blog and as such needs treating a different way. When I first started, I treated it as though it was a blog and that doesn't work. Each page stands more or less alone, unlike a blog where you have a logical, dated progression to the posts.
   
   Now I treat each article as a stand alone website instead of a blog post and am getting much better traffic. O do write related articles and link them together, but it is still different.
   
   Also, I do not look for traffic from within hubpages particularly. I notice a lot of people promoting their hubs on the forums and I think that is self defeating because it annoys regular hubbers and the quality of traffic within hubpages is not good as far as ads go - I am not going to click on any google ads I see while I am here, and I think most other hubbers don't either.
   
   The weird thing is that even hubpages themselves call it a "blog" sometimes because I saw an ad on problogger which stated they were looking for bloggers.

   Maybe that will draw the people in, even though hubs are not blogs. Don't know, could work. Because some wouldn't understand hubs, but they understand blogs.
   
   And I agree with you on hubber traffic. Hubbers contribute to rating and visibility and promotion whereas external traffic means money. Because hubbers seem to form something like a community, it makes it enjoyable and contributes to revenue indirectly. External traffic bring in direct revenue.

   I call hub pages a blog because I thought it was built on a blogging platform.
   
   Marks correct in that internal traffic is not very productive in producing revenue. from adsense ebay etc.
   
   I am tracking several links that I promote other peoples work on hubpages.  Using keyword and geo targeting.   I find out where people search for a certain topic then I place a classified ad in that region. I get more traffic that way than promoting my own sites because there is so much good relevant content on hubpages..   
   
   Has anyone else tried this to generate more dibs ;-)

   What types of promotion methods are you using to create outside traffic to your hubs?
   
   I know you have some nice looking blogs outside of hubpages do they produce traffic for your hubs ?
   
   Besides the search engine rankings you command ?

    The usual, leaving links on other blogs, doing some link baiting, posting blog posts about my hubs. I have pretty much given up on social networking sites - I think they take too much time and effort for the traffic they get and the only real benefit is some backlinks. I am only really interested in organic traffic and if you write good stuff, other people will do the social bookmarking for you. I even write the occasional post/hub just for that purpose and it usually works.
    
    Some of my hubs were submitted to mixx.com which was a new one on me, but sending traffic. One of my forex hubs was quoted in a Malaysian chatroom and is sending a fair amount of traffic.
    
    Yes, they do but only as an aside, not their primary function.

    I had been contemplating starting up a blog for quite a few months.  Only thing is, that I am not very good at keeping a diary.  It seems like a blog is kind of like that.  I just wanted to write relevant articles about what I am interested in sharing with others.  I really like discussion as well.  So I feel like I hit the jackpot with this site, which is definitely not a blog, per se.  Although, when I set out to search for a good blog to 'blog on'...   this site came to the top of the search results. 
    
    When I went over to Alexa,  to see how popular the site was and check out what kind of traffic they receive, I believe they too considered it one of the busiest 'blogs' going.  So, here I am on my 'not a blog' blog!  And happy to be here.

    Yes, I think you are right on, when you say that most will not understand what a 'hub' is, or a 'hubber' for that matter.  I am sure that is why I found this site, when I was actually looking for a 'blog'.
    
    It is all about educating those who are searching for relevant information.  The word 'hub' will need to take on a life in itself.  I believe that it will, and hopefully we are on the edge of this movement.
    
    It took me but a short time to realize that this was NOT a blog, but article based.  And Mark, I like how you approach each article that you write as separate from the others.  It would cause one to raise the bar on themselves, each time they post a hub, that it -- alone, must be quality.  If and when they relate and we can link them,  all the better.  So I think you have given strong advice for this platform of writing on the hub.
    
    You all might as well know, I am watching everything that you are doing.  You do it well, and I am a good student.  LOL
