I am confused about putting a product on my hub. I can do the product, but if I try to imbed the description, it is HTML. I cannot find an answer at Amazon or in the FAQ here. I am a new associate. Thanks.

Don't try to embed a description. You cannot use HTML code at HubPages, other than displaying it as code. By the way, writing original content (descriptions) about the product(s) is better for your sales, anyway. smile

      Best of luck.

Thank you so much. I was expecting such an answer. You are a lifesaver to my sanity or confusion or whatever!

Insert an Amazon Capsule. Then find the product you want, actually go to the page, then copy and paste the entire URL into the field where it belongs in the Amazon Capsule and click on Preview (or whatever the button is) and then save it.

You also have the option in the amazon capsule to pick products by keyword, so if you already know what you want, Amazon will display everything related to it. Its best to only feature around 3 to 5 of each item. But like what was already mentioned if you want more control over what items are displayed its best to find the ISBN number.

I also have used the ISBN number most of the time, rather than the URL.  Recently, I have started using the keyword search, and I'm not quite so happy with it. Is there any way to de-select some of the products that are included with Amazon results from a keyword search?

Also, I think I may be including too many products in a capsule, but I would like to know why it's better to have just 3-5. What's the rationale?  I'm not disputing, just asking.

Using the ISBN or ASIN number to choose specific products is the best approach, so keep on doing what you're doing!

I see people like Nelle using a LOT of ads in their Hubs, so I'm not sure where the advice is to keep it down.  However, I've been told many times that you won't sell anything unless you pick products that are directly related to your content - so maybe what they're saying is, a few directly related items is better than lots of less relevant ones.

The URL works just the same as the ISBN/ASIN. HubPages strips out everything but the ISBN/ASIN (which is actually contained in the URL). It's quicker to grab the URL from the browser address field than it is to scroll down to find the ISBN/ASIN.

Gulp.  Only two weeks for me to review this and see what you mean, Darkside.  Good grief!  roll

Yes indeed, you are right:  it would be much easier to grab the URL from the address field, and I will definitely start doing this.

In the meantime (good news for me), I have figured out one way to use keywords to choose Amazon products, but then to de-select the ones I don't like.  The process is slightly cumbersome still, but I may find a way to trim it down a bit as time goes on.

just so you know you can use search operators similar to those you can use in Google search to alter the results amazon shows in the keywords section (not sure about ebay though).

This means you can use for instance trousers -blue to remove blue trousers from the results amazon shows.  This is more of a generalization than what you would use it for.

A good example would be on one of my DSi Hubs I ended up using

dsi console - protector - case - memory

This cut out the wide range of cheap products which spammed out the actual DSi consoles in my hub.

*Authors Note* I am quite drunk right now and have some trouble remembering if the operators used by amazon are
    -, +, Or And, or
    Not, And, Or

I could research this, but it will have to wait till tomorrow tongue

I'm sure I could try any and/or all of the above.  Thanks for passing along the tip, especially while you are in the condition you're in.  I will absolutely see about using this idea. big_smile

Enjoy, gave me a massive income boost when I figured out how to filter out unrelated products smile
