These are most likely CROCODILE TEARS that don't mean anything and "devastated" is only being used for POLITICLA purposes

I would have to agree.  The only thing devestating to him is his demotion.

This is a standard response when the noise is louder than the facts.  BP are just the owners of the problem that was caused by an AMERICAN drilling company and the well cap that blew out installed by Halliburton an AMERICAN company.  BP would have had maybe a few personnel watching and recording for the book - along with the AMERICAN inspectors who must have approved every bit of equipment, the rig, the well head etc etc, including how it was installed.

The political noise is totally hypocritical and the US Senate is an involved party in that they allowed drilling in that area, they approved the method, the technique and the equipment. The noise from Obama is all about maintaining his political ranking in the US and it is hypocritical and childish in the extreme and will probably return to bite him in the ass.  Maybe Halliburton set him up?  after all they managed to get the Iraq 'war' going and made all the money from that other fiasco.

British nationalism from a British subject is certainly understandable, but the rush to yet another conspiracy theory is ... well, worth about what most of the other conspiracy theories are.

If I were BP I would tell Obama and congress to sue me... as I set the 75 million dollar check on the desk and walked out.

Thus showing that you actually have even less regard for the 'small people' of the Gulf than Hayward (BP CEO). But those of us who read your comments know you worship at the altar of capitalist greed.

So does Hayward probably. But he's a smarter CEO than you are. Give the finger to the POTUS and announce you intend to stiff the victims in the Gulf and there will be a freeze on BP assets in the US before the market closes that day. Congress would adress the insult to the victims by passing a  law which raises the cap retroactively to 50 BL and create courts to deal specifically with Gulf claims that would pay out faster than McDonalds sells burgers. All of these are powers which the President and Congress DO have.

The power of business - even multinationals like BP - ARE subject to the rule of law. They bribe and corrupt governments - even this one - but when the you-know-what hits the fan like this - they can't escape the consequences.

Hayward did not use the expression 'small people', so you mis-speak as is usual.   And the rest of your post....is most assuredly from the liberal 21st century Twilight Zone.

The federal government will, in the end, be subject to the rule of law . . .

A big disaster that was caused by combination of small mistakes. If every one had done their jobs properly this wouldn't have happen in first place.

Now everyone must get together and plan the cleanup part.

I thought he (Hayward) handled the boobs in our Congress quite well, they are wasting time and money questioning the CEO NOW while the well still spews, the facts are not in, and their own spewing is nothing but an embarrassment to the USA.  What a joke.

That doesn't mean I don't think BP is culpable, but the notion that Hayward doesn't miss some sleep at night over the loss of human life and devastation to our oceans, is absurd.  Perhaps America would be happy if he wept, with Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton style, crocodile tears -- the Brits weep in private.
