Hi! I just spent A LOT of time publishing a hub called "Cancer: The Zodiac Sign". I went to my account, and underneath the hub title it says "duplicate"! I didn't write word for word from another source, so I am really frustrated by this! Should I delete the hub??? I would really appreciate your help!!! Thank you so much.
Google some of the text and find out who has copied it, then send them a DMCA notice or a cease and Desist email askign them to remove the content.
You didn't write word for word from another source, but changing a few words here and there isn't original writing. Delete the Hub or write something of your own.
Can I jsut clarify here, did you alter content from another source, or did you write an article from scratch?
Just altering an article can still hold you liable for a DMCA complaint from an original author, and in these cases they can get you for both unauthorised publishing of creative works an unauthorised alteration of creative works.
Thank you for the info. Is it against me if I don't delete the hub? Should I delete it?
If you have not infringed upon copyright, you can keep your hub published. The score may go down, but it should not harm you otherwise. You could ask HubPages to review your hub.
Keep it, and make sure the site that copied your work takes the copyright violation down!
I had the same problem, but i changed the content a bit and it was ok with me. Actually 15% of copied content is allowed, more is prohibited, sometimes what we write maybe matches with any other resource on internet, so its really frustrating at that time. better to make a minor changes in your current hub instead of publishing in same condition, otherwise your score will gradually fell down and that will really hurt
Whenever you write anything for the net you should always put your text through a plagiarism checker just to make sure your phrases are not duplicate.
I use http://www.articlechecker.com as this free online tool returns all the information you need.
I put your text in the tool and it returned a negative result.
This is a great sounding tool. Thank you for sharing this information.
I just Googled several sentences from throughout your hub. It's not really original content--it looks like you simply paraphrased text from other sites. In and of itself that's not horrible, but from what I saw, you only changed one or maybe two words in each sentence you lifted. That is copyright violation.
I would just go back to your hub and say the same things using your own original words.
I agree. Text should never be copied, read and then retype using entirely your own words.

Can someone help me out with this. I submitted a Hub yesterday morning and a few hours later it was unpublished and marked as Duplicate Content. I've done some research on this and I don't see how this can be? I only publish here on HubPages so I'm confused as to how my content...

I notice several disgruntled Hubbers on Eric's new Hub, saying they're leaving HubPages because of the duplicate content flags. They seem to be misunderstanding what the dup content flag is all about - either they think they're being penalized, or that the flag means they have to delete the Hub.I...

I was just checking my stats when I noticed that a hub I published on 1-7-07 has been flagged and incurring a HP penalty for duplicate content. It's my highest earning hub and HP giving me a penalty-and then asking me to wait 72 hours for a review on something I published a year ago is...

I just realized there is a forum section where I can ask this!I am brand new to Hub Pages, and I got a "duplicate" warning on my very first article I submitted. In the past I have always made a point of publishing my content in various places, to make it more accessible to a wider range of...

The duplicate alert appeared on top of my last hub, which analyses a painting of Caravaggio's. I wanted to place the pic in its biblical context and pasted the relevant verse from the Gospel of Luke. That must have triggered the red alert, I think,as the hub is absolutely unique writing. Even my...
