Stop looking.  There's no such thing.  I have 2 artificial knees and a hip.  I have to do certain exercises every day.  You're on the right track whether you know it or not.  The very fact that you have a hub documenting the process shows you're committed.  That's a great first, second or third step.  I use music or a movie I watch in stallments while I toil.  The time flies by.  Music works exceptionally well is you pick a song with a beat/pace you can match.  Hang in there.  You're gonna make it.

Just do it and keep doing it and you'll find that out for yourself.

Make a list of all of the things that can happen to you because you DON'T workout.....post it on the mirror in the bathroom, the refrigerator , the TV screen and on the dashboard of your car.....

Talk to yourself....tell yourself that you are stronger than the urge skip the workout

Motivate yourself by remembering that a successful chronicle of your diet will have to include a successful consistent workout chronicle.

      I hope that this helps.....

At the least Google some support groups in your area....they will help motivate you and you'll find some new friends along the way big_smile

I have struggled with trying to remain motivated to exercise for most of my weight loss journey.  It's not that I don't like the exercise, it's just some days I'm downright unmotivated!  I've learned that, for me, I have to exercise first thing every morning, but I alternate they type of cardio I get--some days it's treadmill, some days I hop on the bike and I've done P90X a few times as well.  You can check out my story at http://hubpages.com/hub/Wellness-is-a-P … Experience Good luck to you!

I do not believe in diets. I have lost weight by changing my lifestyle permanantly there is no short term fix it must be permanent changes in the way you look at food and nutrition.  I wish you luck hope you hit your goals.

I agree its just that this transition for me is kinda like a diet for my lifestyle. I truly want to change the way I eat and think of food! I have lost weight in the past 80lbs and gained it all back so this time I want to do it the right way and stay healthy for the rest of my life! Thanks for the post.

try this.. get up everyday make sure you have some sort of headphones for music and just go run even if you dont feel like it.. you will be glad you did and you can reward yourself with something healthy when you get back.. do this everyday like I said even if you dont feel like it but the feeling of coming home refreshed with some fresh air and plopping down, you know youve done something very good for yourself and you will feel more motivated just by doing so... if you prefer instead of running do a really faced paced or jog instead... sometimes having a partner who does the same thing is goo they can help on the days you dont feel like going.. maybe a neighbor or nearby friend or something.. hope that helps smile

If you're goal oriented like I am then setting a major goal can be really helpful - also, I find it helpful to then take that major goal and break it up into a bunch of more manageable smaller goals.

thanks Gregg! I am setting some big goals so I am heading in the right direction and not afraid to break up my goals to make it more manageable and less over whelming!  Thanks

It helps to make yourself know you know you have to do this. Have a friend that is willing to help you work out. I have posted a hub on a quick way to drop pounds. It will jump start you. Then its up to you to keep it up. Good luck!

Hi Fred, Find a gym buddy or someone to accompany you during morning walks.  You might need somebody to motivate you to keep going especially during times you want to give up your goal.

Don't forget too look good when you're out for that walk/run-exercising. Baggy sweats, a rundown tee will do just that,  make you feel rundown...invest in yourself you are worth it!  Look hip and shave some pounds off those... well... hips ;>

Find a really solid program that you have faith will get you results with hard work. The excitement about the gains you will make, coupled with the happiness of seeing the gains you are making in the mirror should be all the fun you need.

Unfortunately Nike aren't telling lies when they say, Just do it. Motivationally though, an mp3 player with the right music on it and you're away. smile

Set a fun goal with a present. For example: If you commit to go to the gym 3 times a week and you follow your gym plan for 2 months, reward yourself with something you really want.

Find something you are interested in learning or already enjoy doing. If nothing else, work your exercise into something you have to do anyway, like cleaning the house or going out for groceries.

Every person is different. Some people like a social aspect. Some like a challenge. Some prefer a sport to a class or session at the gym. Try a bunch of different things and see what you like.

If you hate going out, there are numerous tapes and videos available for use at home. If you need company but have no one interested, most communities have running clubs, mall walkers, community-based programs where members meet for low-cost sessions.

If you do activities that you actually enjoy, you will be much more motivated to do them and you will start to lose weight and get in shape.

Fun music can help you to enjoy your workouts more. A gym class can also make exercise more exciting.

If you don't like to exercise, here is a number of fun things that will help you to get moving and lose weight:

    *Walk your dog
    *Take ballroom dance classes
    *Take up a team sport
    *Do things like playing tennis
    *Take up hiking
*Go swimming or take your bike for a spin

Give your spouse, friend or family member a 5 pound sledge hammer and tell them, demand from them that they make you a solemn promise that concerns your health, your very life:  make them promise to pound your computer into absolute shrapnel if you skip your work out.  You have to find someone you trust to do it though, otherwise they'll back out and won't do it. If you think they will give you a pass if you whine long enough, that's not a person you can trust.  Commitment comes from, well, making a commitment.

(If you don't value your computer that much, then pick your stereo or giant screen tv, or PS3... etc.)

I think loading your mp3 player with some good workout songs really helps and it's good to mix up your workout routine so that it's not boring.

Just start with very simple things first.  For example walking on the treadmill and very light resistance weights.  Overtime, if you're consistent over a few weeks and months, gradually start increasing speed on the treadmill and resistance for weights.

Oh and have your ipod with you. The music sometimes makes you forget you're exercising, at least for me it occasionally does.  You get so into the music that you forget your doing squats or something and do too many.

    Hope that helps!
