Are biblical stories myth or historical?

I am continuing the conversation from another forum as I now see how few people understand what a myth is.

Biblical stories just like Greek stories of gods and goddesses are part of the world mythos.

While they may be based on historical events or characters, they are not historical but mythological.

They are reflections of the events of the collective psyche and not as literal accounts of the truth.

They however offer archetypal truths that the subconscious understands and recognizes.

many of the stories are actually based off of other myths, and some of them are actually just stories to help remember important events.

Jesus' travels, if you notice, are an almost perfect story of the Sun's journey through the Zodiac. Jesus represents the sun (and light), and Herod represents the moon (and darkness). In fact, in the story, there are TWO people who reincarnate: Jesus and Herod. But for some reason, everyone only knows about Jesus' reincarnation.

It doesn't matter-- there is truth and valuable teaching in many myths, 'true' or not.

Yes, that is the idea. Arguing whether the myths are true or not is a waste of time. What are they saying? What are they teaching the psyche. That is the important question that we have forgotten to ask.
