Why So Many Hubbers are Bragging of Better Traffic Lately

   There are a large number of hubbers that are excited about their traffic going up a lot over the last week or so. That is good news. The big question asked is: why now?
   
   I think the reason HubPages is getting a better shake in traffic volume is because management decided to weed out a lot of questionable crap. Since ads were pulled on several hubs a bit ago, I have noticed an increase of good traffic stories in the forums.
   
   HubPages made a good move when they clamped down on the crap. Google will look at HubPages in a better light with borderline nudity hubs gone (IMO).
   
   Bad hubs, especially in large numbers, hurts the whole community. With the bulk of sex hubs scaled back or gone, HubPages no longer has a pink light (as opposed to a full scale red light) district.
   
   The hubber community should be thankful HubPages management is serious about a viable portal and not just a quick buck. The net is full of garbage and it is nice to see a few places that can be trusted. I feel more comfortable when a HubPages article comes up in a search. My guess is others feel the same.
   
   There has been some complaining in the forums about the change. Some hubs should remain, especially those dealing with health related issues. And HP has put those hubs back.
   
   My traffic has stalled this summer. With so many tax hubs it is no surprise. Still, my ad income continues to rise and Amazon has me smiling most days. I could break $100 for the month on both Google and Amazon, a first for me. Not bad for 200-300 page views a day.
   
   This community should give a vigorous round of applause to the HP team. They took heat to make this place better. And everybody wins (except for the quasi-nude and Bollywood hubbers).

      I am seeing some really good traffic improvements and thus adsense improvements. I really have to thank hubpages for this. Also, I did improve a lot of my hubs. I am glad to see the improvements. I think the link karma will also help!

      I am not a very frequent hubber, but I was one of those opposed to half nudes hubs all over.  It was starting to look more like soft porn site and guess what all the pics are usually stolen ones... good riddance

   Stalling traffic in the summer for many people could be a positive thing. It is much more easy for people to realise falling traffic.
   
   My traffic has 'stalled' over the last month or two as well, which I am considering to be a fantastic result. The likelyhood is that I will see significant traffic rises as we get to Autumn and Winter.
   
   I was expecting to see a decline in traffic for summer to be honest. Although I do have lots of soccer hubs, so I guess that explains it. In fact, that most certainly does explain it!
   
   Others may simply have hubs which are suited to summer surfers....
   
   My hubs are probably well suited to the current economic climate. With 4 of my last 6 hubs having the word 'free' in the title. There is always at least a little demand for free stuff!

      Wow, the word free.  That is a very good outlook.  The majority will click on your URL just for the sake of seeing what is considered free.
      Summer time is tough I do agree but this year so far I am earning more than last year.  I guess I am on the right track.

   new features help us also to flag poor quality hubs. we can catch them on the hub hopper and in the hub feed.

      I wish I was having a stall or increase! Was averaging 450 a day, today hit an all time low of 285!

         LarasMama, my traffic can bottom out under 150 on the weekend. I want income, so I want quality traffic. My income continues to rise while traffic has stalled. I agree with others that say traffic should really roar this autumn.
         
         I am working more backlinks and will publish a few more hubs. Fingers crossed, in a few months I'll be singing some real numbers.

            My hubs used to bottom out to maybe 400 on weekends - never been this low. But it's just more encouragement for me to write hubs to get back to 450 with small hits then hopefully by September they'll all take off in a big way. I'm doing the 30 day challenge again so I can get lots of hubs out there - the last one I did increased my daily traffic a lot so hopefully this one will do the same

         That is still pretty good. I'm still trying to get to 250 a day. Doing better but it's a very slow process.

         Drive down traffic to my low paying hubs an redirect it to my high paying ones.

   I think it depends on when you joined. For example, I joined last May and at the time, of course my mind was oriented towards writing summer hubs. These hubs are my oldest and rank well because SEO and  the age factor. So, my traffic is really picking up with these hubs even though they didn't get (as) much traffic last summer.
   
   If you joined in winter, you probably wrote a lot more winter-focused hubs.
   
   Just a thought!

   I agree the new changes is really helping as well as the new linking tool and just the fact that more hubbers are more actively commenting and rating each other, plus I have noticed more publishing going on. The search engines love new consistent  content.

   I agree with you and think the new changes are a good thing.  As you said, there is a lot of junk on the net and HB should be about adding value to readers. Didn't know about the close to nudity sites.  Don't seem appropriate here at all.

    My traffic is down about 600-700 views per day.  My adsense is down a bit, but I think (er..."hope") it is just because of the beginning of summer.

    I have read that google is ending the love of micro niche sites which is what hubs basically are.  We will see if the end is really near for hubpages.  My traffic is dying a slow death.

       I'm not sure you're qualified to comment on that, Tilecleaninghub, since you only  have 20 hubs and most are based around the same two or three topics.
       
       I've got 77 hubs on at least 5-10 different topics and I still wouldn't consider myself qualified to comment on hubpages overall traffic.
       
       Misha has the same number of hubs as you but due to good SEO and keyword research often makes several thousand $$$ per month.
       
       Maybe when you've been here a bit longer and written a few more hubs you'll get better perspective.

          Misha earns several thousands of dollars per month?  I can't imagine that happening to me.  A hundreds yes but not thousands.  That's amazing.  He must be doing something right.  Does he help you by teaching you what he does in order to make that several thousand of dollars per month?

       End micro niche sites? Why would they? There will likely be a stock IPO of Direct Media who owns ehow and livestrong and cracked and they, according to my son who interviewd for a job with them, have advanced understanding of long tail keywords.
       
       I sort of wish hubpages would give topics and ideas on what to write based on those long tail keywords. That seems to be where the genius lies in the frontier of article writing and content.

    I personally wrote steadily for quite a few months and then took a short break which lasted a few months. Upon return, I found traffic had escalated as it fans and fanmail. Authorscore was in the pits, but I sort of expected that it would as I hadn't been active at all.
    
    Now, there appears to be this Karma Rating or whatever. Quite honestly, it appears to be one more layer of marginally useless stats for someone to have a kitten about when it drops for no apparent reason.
    
    Perhaps the increase in traffic came from the StumbleUpon links and other stuff I jumped into just prior to dropping out for a bit. Money ain't really about much. I never expected much from it, anyway.

    I guess it's how time-constant the Hubs are - and what I mean by that is that they all bolster evergreen content throughout. People want to see information that is relevant today and in, perhaps, 5 years.

    I think it's a good idea for HP to get rid of the crap. I've seen hubs that are 3 sentences long, as well as hubs that have little or nothing to do with the title. Maybe the HP folks should cut down on that sort of thing as well.
