Just a quick heads up that there's something new and fun going on, now 'til June 15th, headed up by our very own lmmartin.  If you're familiar with the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, you'll know how much fun this can be.  If you're not, head on over to the HubPages blog to see how it works.  No monetary/material prizes, but that means everyone can enter, regardless of where you live, and the winner will be entered in the official Bulwer-Lytton contest later in 2010.

    Have fun!

Nope, just the worst opening line for a story you can think of.  If you follow the link to the blog, it has more info, and also a link to the hub with full instructions and the comment capsule to post your entries.  There are some really funny ones already up.

here's the funniest line I ever heard,in a movie"Did we fail to mutually nurture each other?" who said that?Clint Eastwood, to his ex-wife(who he did not understand, and attempts to,by reading women's magazines).Funniest line I ever heard in my life.I would marry the marine on the spot. Or,at least ____ him. ha hah hah.

There are some really funny entries up already... I was just reading through them and giggling.  So get on over there and get in on the fun!  Remember, each entry must only be one sentence.

Is there any guideline regarding the number words?

                1. Maddie Ruud profile image72
Maddie Ruudposted 13 years agoin reply to this

No official guideline, but if a sentence runs on tooooooooooooo long it makes it hard to read.  The official Bulwer-Lytton contest tells you to try to keep to 60 words or less.

Norah Caseyposted 13 years agoin reply to this

I'm not reading any entries over 60 words. Some of these sentences are longer than anything I have encountered in a novel, even bad ones wink

Really excited by these entries everyone, keep them coming!

It's a great little contest.  Do notice, though, that the first part of the Comments section is for your entry.  There is a break in the middle with a photo of fireworks or something similar and then the second section of Comments is actually for Comments you might have.  That's the way it was the other day -- unless it's changed since then.  So if it is still like that, you put your entry in the first area of comments not way down below like I did.  I scrolled to the bottom and added my entry there.  Don't do that unless you're making a comment.
