Adsense. Did I do it correctly?

   Hello,
   
   I am new with Hubpages, 2 months, and this is  my first forum post.  I need help.  In my account affiliate settings, Adsense is marked as "set".  However, Hubpages does not show up as a channel in my Google Adsense account.  Does that mean I am not getting credit for my articles on Hubpages or is that normal?

      You need to "create" a channel for hub pages. Go into your adsense account, click on 'adsense setup' then 'channels'. Click on 'url channels' then insert www.hubpages.com - and click ok. After a few views of your hubs you should see "Impressions" shown for this channel on your adsense main page - this means that your adverts are being displayed. You can also setup separate channels for each hub you have, if you wish to discover which ones are getting the most clicks from visitors.

         Thank you.  I'll try that right now.  I was wondering why my earnings seemed to be growing so slowly.  Then I researched a little deeper today and noticed that the earnings I have received have come from my personal blog and apparently none from Hubpages.

            You'll find that the (general) statistic is that 5% of visitors will click adverts. However that amount will vary depending on what your hubs are about, who your readers are and how "internet savvy" they are.
            
            I have 105 hubs and I'm about to hit $40 on adsense. The older a hub gets the more traffic you get which (generally) equates to more clicks. Keep writing quality hubs and the traffic (and money) will come.

         WryLilt, now I'm confused.  I did none of that when signing up with adsense, instead using the links from HP.  If I follow your directions on what to click I find that I have no channels, yet I have ads and adsense shows I'm earning a few cents.  ????  Or are the channels just for tracking purposes, as in reports for my information?

            It's completely for informational purposes. Once your adsense setup is set on hubpages, it's possible to earn money.
            
            Channels are great if you want to know which hubs are making you the MOST money - you can find out what your CTR (click through rate) is as well as which pages gets clicked the most. It's also good if you want to discover which topics make the best money, so you can write more on those topics.
            
            You can only have two hundred channels - so I only put hubs into channels once they start getting decent external views to see if they are matching with earnings.

   Ok, done.  Thanks again WryLilt!!  I am assuming that I did not have to identify myself or add a code or anything like that.  Just www.hubpages.com and that is it?

      Yes that is correct. Since your adsense account will ONLY keep track of pages where your adverts are displayed, it will only show information relating to those pages and earnings. Hubpages inserts the tracking code for your adsense account into your hubs automatically.

         Thanks!!  Now Adsense is showing "ACTIVE"  YEAH!!  I am having trouble doing the same thing for Amazon and Kontera though.  I cannot find a place within my accounts to "create" a channel.  UGH - sorry - I've worked hard and I want to make sure I get ALL the benefits possible.  Thank you for your help!!!!

   Ok, so you have been on here 3 months and have 104 articles and you have accumulated $40.00.  From what I have read, that is great progress.  Now that you have told me how to do this correctly, perhaps I will be catching up with you soon. 
   
   I'm glad I wasn't a year into this with somewhere around 500 hubs before I discovered my mistake.

   Now, what about Kontera and Amazon.  I have affiliate codes for those too and they are showing up on my personal blogs but not Hubpages.  I have gone into my accounts to try to "create a channel" but I cannot find a place to do that.  Any thoughts on how to correct that?

   Tina, go to "my account" (upper right on the screen) and then affiliate settings.  You will find links there to automate the setup of Amazon.
   
   From what I read on HP you will not want Kontera until you have at least 10,000 views.  That will take a while.

      Do you know why you need 10,000 views first.  It has already earned a few cents on my blog and I just set it up on that about two days ago?

      I've heard a lot of bad stuff about Kontera but they have changed some of their policies. But as Wilderness said - don't bother till you're getting thousands of views. I just signed up and get quite a few clicks but they have a much lower pay rate.
      
      With amazon there is no way to find where the clicks come from unless they buy the specific items you had for sale on your hubs. Due to the way amazon tracks, if someone follows one of your items to amazon and then buys 20 DIFFERENT items,  you get a percentage of all 20.
