[My views were 6-0 identical to Stevens and 0-6 different from Thomas.]
Stevens 5 of 6 and Thomas 1 in 6.
Interesting quiz BUT like a justice, I wold make a decision based on the specifics of the case. For example, I favor the right of the state to ban late-term ELECTIVE abortion - but believe that it's a decision for the doctor and patient when he healh of the mother is at stake or there is a VERY high probability of a child with disabilites so severe a normal life for the mother and child would be impossible.
In other words I respect Palins decision to deliver a child with Downs. But a single mother working at Taco Bell can't get 100K for a speaking gig or multi-millions for a book deal where a ghost writer did the real work. For a real person, the situation is a potential nightmare with no end.
The quiz didn't allow me to consider those specifics.
i took the quiz, it was fun - thanks for the good thing (even though we disagree on everything and you think i'm a religious nut)
but the problem with the questions is that they don't explain if the "bans" are FEDERAL bans or STATE bans. I suppose that the answer is FEDERAL, because it's all about agreeing with the supreme court... but this is the same argument that judges use to usurp their powers.
unfortunately, this is the core problem of most supreme court decisions.
HOwever, applying the argument "if not mentioned, it must mean 'the federal government can/can't'", i ended up agreeing with them 5/6 times (although, i'm sure my reasoning was different). The one I got different was the last one about a State being able to execute a minor - no where in the Federal Constitution is it prohibited.
I got to the first question and could see the game being played.
"In general, do you agree or disagree that an individual should have a right to have a registered handgun at home?"
I have the right to keep a fire-arm in my home, and carry it on my property, even if i do not register it, and I am not licensed.
It is none of the Govts. business.... period.
Gotta love the format of the questions.
I looked at the questions and they are really to vague to give an honest answer.

Republicans always want to take a mile when they are given an inch. Conservatives cheer with the overturn of Roe vs Wade, saying it was a victory for States Rights. So the Red States double down creating a Handsmaiden's Tale environment for its residents. But that has not been enough. Trump remains...

The Conservatives on the Supreme Court stuck a knife in the back of all Americans with their decision to ignore stare decises and overturn Roe. Besides stripping women of a fundemental right to control their own body (now, in some states, a 13-year old rape victim with be FORCED to carry the...

Now that Obama has already taken a "shot" at the Supreme Court, what do you think Obama's reaction will be if Obamacare is struck down?

The Supreme Court’s biggest decisions of the term are coming. I thought it'll be good to have one thread, kind of a tracker of the upcoming decisions. The high court has 10 opinions left to release over the next week before the justices begin their summer break.

My question - In general, how do you feel about the right to religious freedom being used in this specific Supreme Court decision? Does one have the right to discriminate due to a religious belief? The Supreme Court ruled today in favor of a Colorado cake baker who refused to make a...
