we all know comments effect mind of new readers who are unknown to our previous works, now the question is will you approve  bad reaction of your readers on your hubs?
dont you think people should know fair things about your hub not only good things but also other kind of responses?

I'm not against approving negative comments.  People are allowed to have their own opinion about the topics I write about.

Yes criticism can only lead to improvements.
I am willing to accept them as advice.

I dont think approving bad comments makes any sense... I approve only those comments which are meaningful and honest..

Yup. I approve all comments. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Of course if I should decide to delete a comment that's my right.

I will and do if they represent a legitimate criticism or differing point of view.  If I feel someone is just being obnoxious or  trying to start an argument, I will just delete it and move on.

If it's not got foul/rude language - I will, to give it some balance. Example: My Hub on Pro Ana Anorexic Cult (Explicit).

Someone left a comment to inform me Anorexia was her way of life and she actually seemed to like it - she was all for it. Not a good comment but I left it there.

    Best wishes.

    Definately...
There is nothing better than constructive critisism.  Unless of course they are using profanities and are really obscene about it but hell yes. smile

    I reject a comment if:

    a) It contains an external link.
    b) It contains an irrelevant internal link.
    c) It compromises a sale page*
    d) It is abusive**

    * If I write a 1000 word long sales page, and then somebody comes and leaves a comment which completely ruins the chance of a sale, then that defeats my objective. I only recommend products which are generally well reviewed on Amazon, I never claim to be impartial. Purchasers can read impartial and open reviews on Amazon before committing.

** I do not mind criticism, but a severely abusive comment will be deleted immediately. These are very rare though. If somebody insists on having a long debate on a hubpage, I will sometimes reply to their first two comments. If they continue to leave a third, I will either unapprove it or approve it but not respond. This is to save my own time.

That said, I don't unapprove a great deal of comments, and I get far more which add value to a hubpage then devalue a hub page.

I do not approve comments that

contain a link that is irrelevant or is blatant marketing unrelated to the hub

    contain offensive swearwords

and... that's about it, I think. I've had some problems with comments on my michael myers/halloween hub and have deleted a lot of comments there - mostly for being irrelevant or for the cusswords in the comments.

I have quite a few negative comments on a few hubs but I usually leave them and respond with something like, "sorry such-and-such wasn't pleasing to you - thanks for stopping to share your opinion."

If they are calling me names, no.  If they are just written to be hateful to me personally and to be condescending, no.  If they have validated merit, and make a good argument- yes, I welcome them.

However, I do leave a comment up for at least 36 hours or so.  I figure it might help drive traffic to my site.  So far, that has been the case.  But after the first 36 hours, I will delete it.  That is when it usually starts to irritate me.

I agree with many of the hubbers here.  I am not against approving a negative comment.  The only reason I would is if the comment is abusive in nature or is clearly not relevant.

    Define "bad."

Bad as in a negative review of the hub? Or bad as in ungrammatical and hard to understand? I leave both of those kinds up, who cares?

I, like most others, delete comments that have irrelevant links, sound like commercials, or are abusive.

i mean comment which didnt say you are a good writer or your hub was good or you have lots of grammer mistakes and spelling mistakes or encourage other people not to read it, give negative or mixed reaction to coming readers who act without their personal judgement or are unknown from you and your works.

i deny comments that are unrelated to the topic at all. ie one i just recieved from suckit, which read:" i think you are gay. i'll also deny comments that are blatant advertisements.

If they are negative but critical of my writing, then i approve. Negative feedback is just as useful as positive feedback...there is no shame in that

I would definitely not deny a negative comment unless it is just downright inappropriate.
I actually hope to get some bad ones so I know what to improve, though I'm hoping they will not be too harsh.

I approve comments, whether they agree with what I wrote or not. I sometimes approve comments with links, especially if their links coincide with the topics. I also approve those comments that simply say "great hub" or "nice hub" smile.

I don't approve comments that are spams (i.e., they promote a certain product), in foreign language, those that are swear words, those that are in characters and those that are clearly offensive. In my 13 months here in HP, I have my share of those and I've learned to take them all in stride.

I'm happy to approve comments that disagree with me.  As someone said, it adds a little balance.  Besides, it gives me the opportunity to address any disagreements and add a little more discussion to the Hub if I feel like it.

    What I won't approve are:

links - I don't want to be trying to figure out if they're relevant or not, and it just irks me anyway - so links I won't approve.

I have a Hub aimed at junior-high aged students.  That one gets comments like, "bbbbbbblblblblb" or "whatever" or else bad words.  I don't approve foolishness.

Usually I won't approve comments with swears (or anything crude) in them, because I don't want to be worried about off-color language on my Hubs (for a number of reasons, all business-related).  The other day I actually edited a comment and re-added it with a note in order to leave the person's otherwise reasonable comment. That was only because I had the time and could be bothered.

I am so glad that the approve/deny feature for comments on our hubs exist! I definitely will not approve any comment I consider bad! I've had one that I denied and I unfollowed the hubber... It was quite annoying. For criticisms, if constructive or in 'good faith', why not?

I do approve bad comments if they are professionally done and trying to help or point out something I may have missed.  In addition, if there is a learning lesson within that comment, I feel it is important to approve and publish.  If it's mean and has not point, I tend not to smile  Hope this helps.

Negative or argumental comments give me a chance to expand the content of my hubs and to respond if I feel the need. It is often the case that the poster of the comment never returns to see the response so, other than for my own amusement, a response is wasted...........but, you will be surprised how many hubs are viewed on the basis of seemingly unrelated comments having been picked up by Google word indexing and matching search query strings.
I have had very few 'bad' comments and I can only think of one spam comment that I have deleted. I suppose there are more comments to come that could be classified as bad and I will probably take the same stance as the majority of the responders to this question. My comment introduction actually states that negative as well as positive criticisms are welcome! So I could not complain if I receive negative comments.

I"m still fairly new, and have been fortunate to have only received largely thoughtful, positive feedback. But my current state of mind is this: I'll approve just about any comment, disagreeing with me, calling me names, being gratuitously insulting to me, the works!

You know what they say in show business: there's no such thing as bad publicity.

The only comments I will delete are those that make pornographic references, and are therefore not fit to be seen by children. Other than that, "It's all good," as they say.

I LOVE negative comments on my hubs.  They are often the source of great fun.  I wrote a hub about multi-level marketing and pyramid schemes talking about how scammy that stuff is and WOW did they come out of the woodwork.  Had MLM founders coming in writing hublength comments and went round and round, his minions showing up in droves to defend him.  It was great stuff.  More fun than just having a bunch of people agree with me.

And if a comment is just stupid or nonsensical, I make fun of them. So that's fun too.  smile

Sometimes.  If they have a point, yes.  If they are just ridiculous or petty, no.  I won't accept just a "this is bad", but if they want to elaborate intelligently, fine.

What I dislike intensely is some self appointed critic who wants to tell me what I *should* have said.  If you have such advanced knowledge, go write your own post.

It seems like i've been receiving more and more comments from advertisers promoting their product. Many of them actually have valuable things to add to the comment forum, but their link is plastered everywhere. I find it hard to delete these, but usually do.

I'll approve em sometimes. I can think of a few comments I didn't approve. I've had a couple I let stay just because they were so ridiculous. Of course, I came back with a proper rebuttal.
