No explanation needed...Say 'Yes' if you do & Say 'No' if you dont.

'Hate'...may not be the appropriate word here but I couldnt come up with another one in the title & Im extremely sorry for that. Its not necessary that you hate it...If you think that the Role of religion in history & society was more negative than positive, if you think it has done more damage than virtue, If you think that it needs to change or we need to vanish it...then just say 'Yes' otherwise 'No'.

IMO, hate is an acceptable word here. I don't hate organized religion, I dispise what alot of people do to it, with it and in it's name. The fanatics of most religions cause the problems but it is the majority of maimstream members that allow it to happen and publically encourage and support it in some instances. All religions are about the same according to a conversation with the Devil by Ray Wylie Hubbard. When asked which religion was the truest he replied...
they're all about the same, Buddha was not a Christian, but Jesus woulda made a good buddhist.

When asked who made it to heaven he replied...
Oh some saints and mystics and students of metaphysics 101
People who care and share and love and try to do what's right
Beautiful old souls who read a little stories to their babies every night
What you wont find up in Heaven are Christian Coalition Right Wing Conservatives
Country program directors and Nashville record executives.

My point is that the problem is not religion, the problem is all the religious people religion attracts. Religion empowers people to become everything their god despises in his name. Weak people are granted a false sense of superiority and use it to attack others.

This is too complex of a subject to have a truthful answer with only a simple yes or no.

You can have an organized picnic.  Someone dictates the location, activities and menu.

You can not organize someone else's belief system.
If it were an organized open minded study group looking for answers? ... That is OK.

If it is an organized effort to establish compliance to one particular beliefs system  ???
I would have to say change it from within
Or get kicked out for your efforts.
      a win-win  scenario.

I would be open minded in regards to a disorganized religion, being totally disorganized myself. Sadly I have seen no religion that is sufficiently disorganized to be open minded towards lol

I really do like the idea of a disorganized religion, seems like one could get away with being to disorganized to go to church. Likely they are so disorganized that its not really easy to go on sundays, wait is it sunday? Where is the building? Who is going to conduct the service? Um you know what, just go in peace and try to be good alright. Now what was I doing? lol

We could start a church devoted to the terminally disorganised, then no one would ever show up, not even the preacher. smile

Disorganised religion is the ONLY way to go, just get together wherever two or more believers are gathered and wait to see what the Holy Spirit decides to do, then get going.

                  Suggestions:

No chairs facing any direction decreed by tradition.
No spokesperson, each believer present brings a song or words of encouragement, if they want to.
Stay still for periods of time and wait on the Lord
Enjoy a good meal together afterwards, do communion as you all break bread and drink (real) wine.
Do it often, ignore days of the week.

                  Old fashioned believers meetings... smile

This reminds me of a quote I use whenever a Jehovah Witness starts talking god to me. "Whenever 2 people gather in my name that is church" and I always get them mystified in a happy way, I mean they just love the idea that we are having church right on my doorstep or on the side of the road. It kinda creates the impression that maybe I am just as likely to be in Gods good books as they are and I get a lot less preachy down talking from them. I have even had a few ask my opinions and thoughts about this or that, like they actually  respect my opinions. I guess that is about all the church I want in my life.

I don't trust organized religion, not as far as I can throw it lol

I seem to remember hearing somewhere, 'beware the Demi-gods, those who claim to know God and do not'. All religions claim to know God and many claim to know better then the next guy so I am wary of all of em, just to be on the safe side lol

When two sane people sit down there is conversation.

When two religionists sit down there are only fairytales and myths that re-affirm that which neither really believe.

          more inference.
God is powerful, we are powerful.
          no deception there
unless of course, 'you want to see it' according to your philosophy

you opinion and inference do not belong unless in a question format. This is a forum, for debating. How can anyone debate with opinion and inference when purported stubbornly as truth, followed by sarcasm and self validation toward any and every answer given.

          tsk.

I don't care for organized religion, but I wouldn't say I hate it. Faith is very personal to me, so I don't need the trappings of formal religion. I can talk to God without a minister or priest, and I'm capable of "doing good" without being prompted. Not to say that one can't do good works without any religion or faith at all. There are many altruistic atheists and agnostics.

I said yes to this question because: Organized religion is not the spiritual walk that jesus acquainted us with. The church organized or unorganized has its proper place as the body of God, all except the catholic church - of course for obvious reasons. The church is a place for fellowship, indeed i have some terrific brothers and sisters there, it is a place of learning (or should be, if not, go to another) and an opportunity to see how the christian copes in groups, helps and in edifying the body of christ, in faithfulness, submission and can be a stepping stone to leadership.
Indeed each Church is different. Each denomination lacks something the other denomination has. Each one "sees" 'to a certain point' in doctrine. Some really praise God and some seem to be stagnant, some use a king james bible and some the ungodly NIV some preach the word of God, some have a much watered down version.
In order for me to Love (the opposite of hate) organized religion it would have to combine all religions together under the highest or most doctrines combined, except the catholic church of course, and really praise God, but until then, organized religion is not the spiritual walk that jesus introduced us to and falls short of its greatness and power by having a blended 'religious' view of paganism and biblism.
However, i do thank God for the Church in general but not catholicism at all. I could not separate catholic from the rest of organized religion therefore did i say, yes. but thinking again, i don't actually hate organized religion, i wish it had another form.
