soliciting money for their campaign fund????  I'm really pissed off right now.  After paying $600.00 for a crown (that has not be seeded yet) I get a letter addressed to only me (not hubby too) asking for donations for this guys run for city council.  It makes me want to puke!  I'm fuming mad.

oops guess this should be in another forum.

just write him back and say "You couldn't fix the decay in my tooth, what makes you think you could do so at city hall?"

        I agree.

no, he should not be using your address for anything other than billing you for his over-priced services.

I don't know if they should be "allowed" to use their patient's address, but it seems like a really stupid idea to me.  Not only has he lost a vote, it would seem, he's also lost a client.

Yeah it's probably best you don't vote this guy into office.

Sheesh!  Your dentist could probably afford to donate an amount 10 times higher than you ever could consider.

You could either ignore it, or tell him/her to bugger off (nicely of course).

I called his office as it is littered with his campaign literature, I'm guess he owns part of the practice ??? I told them I wanted a new dentist.  I guess I've never had a physician or dentist approach me for money for their own needs.

Well, while I really think you should be honest with him and let him know how you feel, I will say this about the letter: Maybe he's sick and tired of the B.S. in City Council and has gotten to that place where he is like, "For the love of GOD, DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING MYSELF?!" and has entered the campaign.

If that's the case, and he's not a career politician but a dentist and business man who is sick of stupidity in government, then I don't blame him for reaching out to people who "know" him.

Depending on how the letter was worded, I think it's reasonable to ask for "support, and, if you're really inspired, donate to the cause" kind of thing.  I mean, who else are you going to go to if you want to fix a broken government if you can't start with the people who know you and--in theory--know you are an honest and competent person?

      Just a thought.

In this campaign letter he wanted to ensure people that he loves taking caring of his patients.  He promises to protect the quality of life we experience here & wants to implement an economic plan to diversify the city's economic base.  Then it goes on to say how we can donate.

Oh - he owns part of the practice, so I guess it is okay to use my address.

As someone who used to do a bit of campaign fundraising, I can assure you that is in very poor taste!

When I become a lawyer someday I couldn't IMAGINE soliciting my clients for a political donation. What an idiot! You should switch dentists and vote for the other guy! big_smile

This is absolutely wrong and is merely a small glimpse of what is wrong with politicians today.

what you dentist did is unethical - I believe he could be reported to the Dental Commission or Board or whatever - or at least they could tell you whether its allowed for medical and dental people to use their patients like a mailing list.  He sounds kind of pushy and underhanded and shouldn't be in any public office.

sheesh. dentists are gettin' pushy these days... wink

i like my dentist but he's the kind of guy that, if you called him on something he would go, oh wow, i am so sorry. haha he's so funny - he gives high-fives when we're all done and says because he was so invasive we have to do the decent thing and get married wink

good luck getting it sorted out!
