Please help me check

   I asked in another forum a few days ago about the need for a disclaimer or disclosure notice.  I am starting to put one on my hubs, starting with my newest one:
   
   I Want to Write Music - How Do I Start?
   
   The disclosure statement is at the very bottom of the article, before the comment section.
   
   My question is, Will the last part of the statement look like encouragement to click, when in fact it is just intended to be fair and aboveboard information?
   
   (I know the hub needs more "stuff" like pictures and videos, but I wanted to get it published today.  I'll add them later.)

      to me, it looks like it is asking for clicks. that is just my honest answer re: my first impression upon reading that.

   That's why I asked.  I'll revise it, but I don't know how.  Any suggestions?  I saw something similar from another hubber, but I don't remember who, I didn't bookmark it, and I didn't write down exactly how it was worded.  It seemed to indicate that visitors need to know that - as a matter of disclosure.  I'm really in a quandary.

   I would work on the wording
   
   "clicking on a link contained in this article or on this site. Even a click on an advertisement may bring some financial gain. "
   
   lose the word click - visiting my sponsors is about as far as you should go. Adsense doesnt want you talking shop right next to their business.

   The first sentence is a revision of one I found when I googled disclosure statements.  The site where I found it is owned (I guess) / managed / run by someone who turns out to be on HP too.
   
   The second part is what I tried to make up based on what I remember from the other hub that I mentioned above.
   
   How would it work to use the word "following" instead of clicking?  i.e. "following a link contained in this article or on this site.  Even following a link to an advertisement might bring some financial gain."
   
   Better?  Still needs work?

   The other disclosure statement (not HP) was written probably 1.5-2 years ago, and I think possibly the one on HP was done about the same time.  Maybe there was some uncertainty back at that time about how the law would be interpreted.  Have the HP staff ever given any leading about this?  From what I can tell, it is really just Americans who need to be conscious of it.

   This maybe a silly question but, Are we all required to place this sort of disclaimer on our hubs, or does Hubpages cover this in their terms, re Google adsense etc?
   Also, I don't think it matters where in the world you are, Hubpages is located and hosted in the US, so we would have to comply with the FTC rules as well wouldn't we?

   It's one of those things that have bothered me recently, because I frankly don't know.  I have seen some things on other hubs that I wonder about, and this was one of them.  Another was a copyright notice, but it's a totally different issue.
   
   As far as being required, I'm really not sure of that.  I think it's a wise thing to do, just in case.  I think that the rule was designed to help protect consumers from bloggers who were basically advertising some questionable product - but it has seemed to expand from there to cover anything that might bring financial gain.  So I'm trying to start "disclaiming" as much as possible.  And I hope I'll get more clarity as time goes on.

      You're not on your own with not quite knowing what the situation is, I really hadn't given it much thought until I read your thread, because I just assumed it was covered by  Hubpages somehow.  I think I better do some research.
