Hi everyone, Ive been reading up a bit about article submission tonight, with one site being articlecity.com which i come across on youtube. you post an article which can be used by anyone but your link must be included - therefore supposedly creating lots of backlinks for yourself and higher google rankings.

Not sure what i think about it personally! has anyone else tried it before or had any joy?

I don't know about articlecity.com, bit I have submitted many articles at Ezinearticles.com website. Many people use Ezinearticles.com
submission site. They accept only quality articles and they should not be published on any other site first.

I heard Ezinearticles.com gets lot of Google 'Love' and if you do your keyword research right, you should get decent traffic from your articles.

As others have said, EzineArticles is the same and is much better-known.

The problem is that you can't force people to include your link - and lots of people don't.  I wrote an article on belly dancing on EzineArticles and have found it in several places, without my links in it.  It even turned up in a couple of hard-copy newsletters.

These days EA accepts articles which you've already published elsewhere, so I've re-used a few of my Helium articles there - but I wouldn't waste new material on it.

I think ezines has a good reputation and is worth it, but I'm not sure about the others. Don't just duplicate your hub on it though... it needs to be a unique article.

The far better strategy is to create a "linkable article". By that I mean, create an article that others will want to backlink to.

When you write an article, try to be as informative as possible, including information that might not be found anywhere else. If you do so, you definitely create a linkable article, as other people consult you as a source and backlink to you.

One of my pet med articles followed this route and it's been getting lots of hits and a decent supply of backlinks. smile

Also, I want to comment on the practice of re-spinning articles, which is a bit different than what you are describing, but still worthy of mention.

When a person reuses content of an article on several different sights, the thought is that each article pointing back to the original adds weight to that article. And this used to work ... until Google got wise to the plan.

If Google sees a linkage pattern where site A keeps feeding site B they keep an eye on it and adjust your ranking accordingly, especially when it's always the same person linking back to the same site. This makes such a scheme improbable to work in the longrun.

The reason it's still good to backlink with social media is because (hopefully) others on the site will follow back your link. And if you have an air of popularity on the site, it's probable that they will. smile
