I can't believe this became such a big issue. This country is meant to have property rights and freedom of religion.
Seems to be we have a few too many buildings devoted to a bronze age god in any case. I vote the state confiscates them, sells them all to the highest bidder with a caveat that they may not be used to promote religiosity and uses the money to educate the poor.
Of course the USA had freedom of religion all the time there was only one dominant religion. You try putting "Voodooism" on a job application.
I understand why this is causing a stir, and I love the irony of the situation. I think they should be allowed to do it, though. Forbidding them would be a statement of intolerance, which everyone knows some americans have (SOME) anyway. But one thing is having a personal opinion, another one is letting it influence this kind of decisions, where the law is what should matter the most.
1) They don't have the money to build yet, so it is not an issue.
2) Is every place a person died a "sacred burial ground" as many people are referring to the ground zero area?
3) If you want to restrict the rights of some people to worship as they see fit, expect others to want to restrict these rights of yours as well. And don't expect any sympathy when you cry "freedom of religion!" You were the one who wanted that freedom eliminated in the first place.

Even though I'm not Muslim however, I can't help but wonder if it is fair to hold all Muslims accountable for the deeds of other Muslims ( especially those extremist groups). Would'nt it be absurd to blame every living White man for the enslavement of Blacks? Or, do you call every German a...

A mosque at Ground Zero. How about a monument to Kamikaze Pilots at Pearl Harbor or a statue of Harry Truman in Hiroshima? It’s not a matter of religious freedom or race. It’s a matter of decency and common sense. There are plenty of other properties in New York City,...

This is what it was leading to from the beginning. That's why I've been speaking out so much on this protest against the Mosque being built at Ground Zero. It was always a masked attempt to give a free hand to the Dregs of our society. A few of the 9/11 families have given the racist...

Building the Islamic community center at Ground Zero on private property is a Constitutional Right.Correct? If not, then why? Please support your arguments with facts NOT emotions. Because we all know that more than just Christians died in the 9/11 attacks, correct? If I'm wrong, please tell me so,...
