Two Profiles

Sadly I must maintain two profiles due to I sometimes enjoy responding to religious Hubs or questions.  More often than not, I am not signed in under the correct account.

I know many communities frown upon multiple identities but here the market niche sometimes demands a separate identity and for the religious Hubs it much safer.

What are your thoughts on allowing two sign-ins - allowing the author to jump between two identities?  This would allow me to more freely express my religious views without jeopardizing the bulk of my work.

PS I had problems with my first profile and someone was mad at me and linked by profile name here on Hub Pages somehow to pornographic sites.  Hub Pages was wonderful in helping me - they did double duty.  The problems were resolved, I took my real name off of Hub Pages to lessen the exposure but I remain very sensitive.  It is not that I wish to hide I just need to prevent that from happening again.

Though multiple accounts are allowed here you shouldn't have problem posting on religious forums. Many hubbers with single profile are actively involved in both hubbing and forums postings.
I appreciate your openness to having multiple profiles.May be established hubbers can advise you on this much better.smile

I think you should risk some comfort may be and be what you are and tell what you think no matter what - in a long run you'll feel better. Hiding behind avatar,or invented profile, somebody else's ideas or bulky clothes never works. Eventually you'll feel like you are cheating...yourself.

I think this can be true for many, but not for everyone. Some people need to protect more than themselves. By divulging who they are, certain kinds of information, they could also create problems for loved ones and friends. However, if one is responsible about what and who they are, regardless of one account or several, there shouldn't be a problem.

I'd love to see the option to have at least one alternative pen name on our accounts.  I don't want to have to create another email address and log in and out.  I also don't want to ruin the reputation I've made for myself for being brutally honest in my hubs (not to mention sarcastic and totally immature). I would write commercial hubs from time to time, probably more than just time to time, but I can't make myself want to create a new account.

I know initially, HP wanted just one name/user account, but reality proved that didn't work.  Might as well make it easier since this point you have made is a valid and largely agreed upon one amongst users.

Perhaps its a matter of it not being as easy to do as it is to say, though.  Or else there are other reasons that I am missing.

I think it's fine. There are people who have more than one account here for the purpose of spamming or to make anonymous their very sarcastic, and sometimes hateful spouts about anything they want. They hide behind these other identities and are the reason we have "sock puppets."

However, I think you're a good writer, responsible and aware of people, their feelings and much more, and if you continue to act responsibly with any identity you choose, then you certainly are not a sock puppet. You are consistent and genuine.

I think you should feel good about your choices, because I get a sense that you are a good person from your writings.

    That's my humble opinion.

If you have a good reason for multiple accounts, then that's fine. It allows you to "brand" yourself differently. So if you want to write about religion on one identity and debate in the forums as necessary, good; while on the other hand, the other identity may allow you to develop credibility on a completely different topic. I say multiple identities are useful for branding purposes but not spamming purposes.

It would be so much easier if we didn't have to log out then back in again when we switch between profiles. Sometimes it helps to know how one profile looks from an outside point of view but each time there are these log in log out steps that get in the way.

From my point of view, I run two profiles because one is extremely personal and there is no way I would want those hubs appearing on the profile I have set up to promote myself as a freelance writer. So I do appreciate that HubPages allows us to use multiple profiles but I agree that things could be easier.
