    We at times wander aimlessly through a vast auditorium

    It's patrons inside were both silent and attentive,

    A screen was in full view of everyone else;

    Soon everyone around lives will be in full focus !

    ~
    As each scene was being unfolded,

    A gentleman began to speak..,
    Eyes were focusing intently at the inner screen,

    With a filter of a fine mist of a light blue haze..,
    ~

    The voice alluded, " Poetry Is An Artform That Can't Be Ignored ."

    Many people have come to hear the man speak ?
    ~
    In waiting more then a day or perhaps even a week;

    "Patrons we have created a great gulf fix between us and our higher power !"

    Instead we had lavished ourselves with vacations in Cape Cod !

    ~

    The notion of the togetherness had taken a back seat,
    Settling for just a bare minimum of what God had intended for all of us to actually have ?

    ~

    All of us had wandered in our own teenage wasteland;
    While being fixed in a torrential nightmare;
    We may be living in the final days ?
    Poetry should never be compromised by anyone's specific standard or given way of thinking !

    where is the poetry, and the art ?  Rambling lines do not make poetry just by writing them short of text 'wrap around' margins.  Words do not make poetry just because they are pput together in a different manner to normal prose, and adding a few big fuzzy words here and there does not make it deep.

    If you want to promote poetry as art then you really should do it with poetry.

    Ouch AP, was your rudeness all that necessary?  Do you normally like to be mean just to be mean?

    Hitalot, you are correct poetry is an art form.  I happen to be a sucky poet, however, I admire you for trying.  Keep it up, and keep in mind that practice makes perfect.smile

      I don't think rudeness is innapropriate in this case.  To post something so completely nonsensical, self-indulgent and so NOT poetry - and then say it should not be ignored because it is poetry requires comment.  I resisted being totally sarcastic which is enough I think.

      On a serious note, the misunderstanding of poetry by the OP demonstrates two dimensional thinking, an inability to rise above flat earth thinking and writing common with fundamental followers of most religions; being unable to understand art seems to be synonymous with not understanding all the metaphysical issues at the most rudimentary levels.  We all struggle to grasp something of the unknown, but to blindly follow a rule book that tries to explain higher concepts by illustration and then think that the characters used in the illustrations are real things is the same as blindly writing a load of rubbish and trying to tell others that it is poetry.

        I agree that it's wasn't very good, although I'm far from being a poetry specialist myself. But you should at least put some random fake smiles in your post just to pretend you care, because now some people will tend towards hatred when it comes to you. Just smile and change the words a bit and, unless it seems too obviously ironic, others will say that you were giving constructive criticism.

      LOL Well, better here from a fellow poet than from a cold and brutal editor who is really in the know. But then, who am I?

    To me poetry is not only love verses. I beleive it can be use as a form of comment on social issues. I have several poems that try to express my belief about religion.  Granted that they are satirical in nature.But I hope that my opinions will be respected just as I respect the opinions of others.

    Some take their poetry as seriously as others take their religion.....rants and all. wink
