I hope that they didn't pay him, his research team, and his translator too much money to state the obvious.
Mark Knowles would have told the world this for free!
I wondered about that too. It is bloomin obvious alright.
it is obvious but since to state obvious to human race which has been programmed in not obvious things since thousand of year , it makes money paid to him all worth it..isn't it?..
Emm...no it isn't. I don't know if you've ever watched the Discovery Channel's "The Story of Everything" by Stephen Hawkings, but he never did quite explain what started gravity. He may well have brought a book out, and he may well be right (the man is a genius after all), but in that program he completely glossed over what happened before the 'Big Bang'.
Maybe as someone already said God is just another name for it. I prefer to think of God as something people need to believe in, something that will lead them along a path in life.
Something that will save them from trying to think too much maybe...
Izzy as you probably know there is a scientist named Krauss who does those great BBC science shows who nails exactly what we do know about the big bang. He is most credible and has won much International applause for his capacity to explain science to the layperson. He also won an award for it
Here he is at Stanford.

I give a verse from Quran:
Do not the disbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were a closed-up mass, then We opened them out? And We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
http://www.alislam.org/quran/search2/sh … p;verse=30
Stephen Hawking has just confirmed it
More rubbish from your quoran about how you knew it all before?
Seen it read it it's recycled bulldust!
The Quoran doesn't say that! It is written in a foreign language and how it is translated is in the eyes of the beholder.
All languages are foreign to others; why should English be preferred on other languages?
I quoted the text/translation of the verse of Quran. It already existed on the website; I did not translate it.
Thanks
When Stephen Hawking has stated only what is obvious; so what is its contribution to the common man, excepting the Scientists, that Atheists Agnostics are eulegizing it as if they have done something very great and that the humanity has taken a new turn with it.
It is just an academic thing for the Scientists; adds nothing the human life.
The bing bang had happened millions/billions years ago..
science adds value to human life like nothing else can..how do you think we survived as species without science?.
..yes science can be boring while religion is exciting..god,after life, heaven etc etc..it surely adds spice to life..it also keeps hope alive which is positive of religion..i concede that but without science humans wont have survived ...science is real but least appreciated hero..in fact we wont have been talking right now if some people wont have go their brain thinking and made internet...please do give credit when it is due...
I said I respect him in the field of science; but out of his field he is just a layman. He should have not said what people say he said. He is totally wrong and I refuse to accept his thoughts; he is not a deity.
A very very well educated and intelligent "layman" not some nut flogging their religion on a forum!
And neither are you, so I refuse to respect yours
Sadly, you're partly correct.
In this neo-pagan world, the former couple has reunited, creating quality of life. And indeed, it seems people cannot live without it. The hunter returns to his bride. Duality ends, Quality begins. Even if science is dull, he has sensationalism to make it exciting, that is what she has always done...
It is going to be one interesting century.
Stephen Hawkin is a cool dude to know all about having a big bang...that's why he probably smiles a lot!
The criticism is that he STATES THE OBVIOUS - this is not stupid and it does not make him slow, it is just necessary to point out the blindingly obvious to counter the moronic intelligent design claptrap that is gaining ground among those with less reasoning ability who want to ignore the future and go back to the stone age.
It wasn't a criticism of Stephen Hawking, I would have thought that the objective of this post is rather obvious.

I suppose it was an inevitable reaction to Stephen Hawking’s new Book ‘The Grand Design’ where he concluded that There is no place for God in theories on the creation of the Universe. To me, it is equally inevitable that the media would immediately zero in on this concluding fact rather than...

God didn't create the universe -- it was actually a result of the inevitable laws of physics, British physicist Prof Stephen Hawking has concluded. In his latest book, The Grand Design, Hawking said: "Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing....

"The Big Bang was the result of the inevitable laws of physics and did not need God to spark the creation of the Universe."What say you?

I don't normally get involved in political debates, but had to wade into this one. Some foolish American magazine has made the following comment:"The controlling of medical costs in countries such as Britain through rationing, and the health consequences thereof, are legendary. The stories of...

Stephen Hawking has proclaimed God did not create the universe, so, does that mean there is no God?no God?

Do you support the latest claim of Stephen Hawking that NO GOD created this world?
