    Is it possible?

Look at Becks rally today; A Christian Party (The TEA Party Re-made) vs A Progressive Party (Democrats Re-made) vs Liberal Party (Repiblican Capitalists Re-made)..?

    I wounder...

It's far too late for that IMO.  Yes, another party may arise from a wing of one party or another, but it won't be a major player.  Our last opportunity for a viable 3rd party was We The People, which is now the badly weakened Reform Party.j

that would take a lot of doing and from an observers' stand point,  splitting the republican ticket between social conservatives and fiscal conservatives only places that political caucus at a disadvantage.

I'm not sure why everyone's nuts about Beck's ... whatever.

The only parties that are actually politically different from the RepubliCrats are the Libertarians, the Constitutionalists, ...

    ... and that's it.

What always happens in our two party system is that one of the third parties always gains strength - because they're right, and people get sick of the RepubliCrats - and then the RepubliCrats steal the ideas of the smaller parties... but only "just enough" to shut them up.

Then everyone sits down, thinks they made a difference, and then get *insert rape-related reference here*

I wish! We need parties that actually represent people's values, rather than a choice between the lesser of two evils. Evan mentioned libertarians already, I'd also like to see a genuine progressive party emerge.

I think for a 3 party system to be created you need the 3rd party to be created out of the moderates who can take members from both the left and the right. What you're suggesting is that the extremists on the right create a third party to challenge the moderate right and the left. I don't see that happening, because in the early stages the actions of the extreme right (Glenn Beck, Palin, etc) will hurt the moderate right and lead to the left winning more elections. This in turn will pull more of the extreme right back to the moderate right candidates.

When a third party is created out of the moderates they take votes from both sides and don't create an advantage for their political polar opposites.

I...don't think Beck and Palin can be considered "extreme right" at all.
I don't even know of a political Party in America that's "extreme right"......
but maybe you can tell me?

The TEA Party is as close to "moderate" as you can get.   Basically, it's a demand for simple responsibility in Washington,  first, Fiscally, and second, legally.

It is not "right wing" nor even particulaly "right" to demand that the government stop spending what it doesn't have, stop taxing beyond injury, and stop destroying businesses with heavy handed and mostly ineffective regulation.

The left currently is in position of demanding the government solve every problem,  control every business, regulate every action and every behavior to the point that there is no risk to anyone except business.   And, is quite vocally, at least, determined to harm as many businesses as possible.     That's about as radical as one can be, and not be some wild eyed nut who's totally lost contact with reality.

The very idea that we need tax levels, regulatory reductions, and fiscal and othe restraint on the part of government, so that business can hire, capital can flow, and people can get back to what they normally do to benefit themselves... Become productive.

The system is so screwed up, that it punishes productivity by taxing the hell out of it,  tremendously increases the difficulty and costs of hiring or employing people, and yet,  at the same time, is treated as if it were immoral just to be engaged in enterprise.   Small wonder our industrial base has fled the country.

    Moderate?
Beck and Palin are the lunatic fringe!
An "everymom" for president? Sure. Why not me? I'm as qualified as Palin.
An egotistical Faux TV schlock jock with delusions of televangelist grandeur?
The views they espouse are "moderate" how exactly???

They've got a party going in their minds
(and we hope it never stops)*
