      I like Camus too. The Fall and the Stranger specifically.

            My liking could be because I saw the movie first... and Javier Bardem being one of my favourite actors
            But I do agree with you that movies are usually not half as good as the books

   That's a nice mixture of steampunk, fantasy, dystopia/survival, and anthropology.  If I could throw in a bit more, there would be romance (Chesapeake Bay series by Nora Roberts) and horror (anything by Stephen King and Clive Barker).  Every now and then I tackle vampires, werewolves, and psychics (Charlaine Harris).
   
   Man, if I were to describe my own personal world, it would be exactly how I described my favorite reads above.

         I read that one for the first time a few years ago and have notched it into the very top of the fave list ever since.  It's due for a re-read!

   1. Love: Walter Benton's book of verse " This is my Beloved "...I've worn out the spine on this book and shared it with many " creatures of an hour "...
   2. History: Manchester's " The Last Lion "...About the young Churchill, but really about the Victorian and Edwardian eras...Fascinating read..
   3. Fiction: Ayn Rand's towering " Atlas Shrugged "...A political cautionary tale...
   4. Humor: Joseph Heller's hilarious anti-war polemic " Catch-22 "...I've read this novel dozens of times over the years and I still laugh out loud in the same places...
   5. Tragedy: F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic " The Great Gatsby "...

      My fav Scifi book is Asimov's " Foundation " series...

   Im much of a bookworm, but these 5 usually pops in my mind each time the word "book" is mentioned
   
   1. "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" -- Arthur Conan Doyle (for something which gets me into thinking)
   
   2. "Daisy's Back in Town" -- Rachel Gibson (perked me up the first time i read it)
   
   3. "Eleven Minutes" -- Paulo Coelho (for something very inspiring)
   
   4. "Angels and Demons" -- Dan Brown (for a fast-paced highly informative read)
   
   5. "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" -- Jules Verne (im always a fan of the Nautilius..)

    1. Hood - by Stephen R. Lawhead (A great adventure novel, taking the story of Robin Hood and turning it on it's head. A lot of gritty realism and action)
    
    2. Our Mutual Friend - by Charles Dickens (Who writes complicated mysteries filled with dozens of characters better than Dickens? While I love most of his work, Our Mutual Friend is my favorite)
    
    3. Wizards First Rule - by Terry Goodkind (I can thank the TV series Legend of the Seeker for getting me interested in reading this wonderful series. It has much more objectionable content than anything else I've read before, but the storytelling is of the highest quality)
    
    4. Dealing with Dragons - by Patricia Wrede (A humorous fantasy tale that takes all the fairy tales you grew up with and gives them a new spin. Great fun for all ages, I loved sharing the series with my family)
    
    5. Sense and Sensibility - by Jane Austen (While Jane Austen's books are some of my favorites, S&S is my favorite story. It's so sweet and beautiful that I can never tire of it)

    The Mortal Instruments Series (three books so far, but all one story, so I'm counting it) by Cassandra Clare
    
    Sunshine by Robin McKinley
    
    The Lines Between by Peter S Beagle (or, really, any book at all of his)
    
    Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (even though it requires footnotes to read certain sections because they're barely English)
