If you were buying a new jacket - denim, leather, wool (your choice) how much would you be prepared to pay?  Are you male or female?
We have a vast difference of opinion on how much people are spending these days!  Please help.

I'm a woman and I'd say it really depends on the jacket's purpose and how long I expect to be using it.

For a trendy jacket, I would not spend over $35.

For a wool or leather dress coat, that I plan to have for years, $350 would not be unreasonable.  The top price I would pay would probably be about $500.

A quality down ski jacket can be bought for $150-200, new.  Of course, I always shop second hand first, cause last year's style usually is just as warm.  :0

I live in a warm climate so coats or jackets are only worn sporadically for a few months. I bought a nice ralph lauren denim pea jacket this past winter. It was a 200.00 jacket on sale for 75.00. I would never pay full price for a jacket. If I had to, I wouldn't pay over $200. I tend to go for classic rather than trendy.

I agree that it depends on its purpose. but I wouldn't buy one online. I would want to try it on and take a good look.

Well, I live where it snows, so for a decent warm jacket (that doesn't make me look like an elephant), I would pay up to $200.
