Whew! I finished my 30th hub for the 60DC2 challenge. So far, this has been a wonderful experience with some outstanding folks.
I have learned a lot about using twitter and SEO from the participants.
Instead of creating a new thread, im going to join yours..
so first Im blown away by your productivity and your 100 Hubber score!

Lots more 60dc2 hubs have been showcased front page, i just dont always think to grab a capture..
well done all!
Thanks SF! I am not sure whether to add in a few more hub, take a break, or something else...
Something to look into on your hubs - many are using this "::" in their titles as a seperator - it may look pretty but it isnt read as a proper character by Twitter and rss readers
ex)
How To SEO :: On-Page Optimization
now if I share that hub via Twitter:
its going to convert to this:
How To SEO %3A%3A On-Page Optimization, hxtp://hubpages.com/t/181c41
in a feed reader it will also be garbled
pretty much the only web "safe" separators for a title are - and _
also:
scan through the feed and peek at your snippet text:
http://hubpages.com/tag/60dc2/latest
If you have your custom summaries set to automatic - you may have issues -
you dont want the first visible words to be "photo credit" or some garble from having an ad capsule picked up first
read the 60dc on page seo info and perhaps even look deeper check out seomoz - get those keywords and pertinent info in your first sentences.
I tend to delete these characters when posting to twitter... does this still not have an affect or is it to do with rssfeed submission?
You delete the characters - but who else would bother? our automated services certainly arent!
It relates to how your title is read by feeds and sharing services, one would hope you are not the only one sharing.
"::" if that cant be read and " - " this can, why use the limited choice?
Ive been using " | " this - which I will be removing also, for the same reason.
Oh, so a dash is better use and you get to keep the keywords separate too! Is that correct?
Thanks for this SF, I have one hub like this one, I will change it, and congrats to all of us, I can see that the output of the group is awesome, I scanned all hubs from the group and we are doing great! I need to read hubs for support as well!
And SF, your new avatar is so cute!
thanks! I think youve seen the album on FB right?
I saw the album before, yes your baby is cute. I think he looks like you.
I can't access my facebook for four days now, they need a cellphone number to send the access code (for verification) to them I cant log in to my account, I don't have a cellphone for the reason that I don't need it, I have two landlines and when I call overseas landlines are clearer.
So I don't know yet if I have to buy a cellphone or just email them and tell them that I don't have a cellphone.
Thank you Sunforged. I am aware of that.
I just wanted to extent my Congrats to the team.
Well done everyone... keep up the good work! Success in the name of Sunforged! *wink*
Swimming Lessons for Babies :: The Use of Reusable Swim Diapers :: Swimming Lessons Videos for Babies
That's the title of my my hub, Can I change it to -- Swimming Lesson Videos for Babies and the Use of Reusable Swim Diaper?
why double dash?
but yes - both underscores and hyphens translate well
Ummm.... but then :: attracts the eye on google, giving the upper hand to our competitors... It is a fine balance and I, guess, it is largly down to what you are targeting. If you are targeting twitter, then this :: would not be an advantage, but if you are targeting Google, it would be. Although, you are targeting google indirectly when posting on twitter. What does the "I" convert to on twitter?
Having said that... Google searches are more now and well established, whereas twitter is a very new concept when it comes to hash links.
*writing as I am thinking again - nice that you have given me some more food for thought*
Which course is the best, me thinks? *open to debate*
@shaz- " | " is also not read
I guess "::" could be attractive to searchers . It wouldnt effect me personally but you never know, variety has power - keyword use (auto-bolded) in the summary tends to be sufficient
"-" or "_" over ": or , or | " would not be about twitter , it would be about broad websafe title convention.
@ Mutiny
My version: hxtp://hubpages.com/hub/buy-avatar
There are better versions under a "capstone" search - its an old HP program - but essentially - write a broad hub that references your individual group hubs and link to each one.
Its a nice way to try out a new term and funnel traffic into specific hubs.
Marissa Wright has a really good version but also has a lot of hubs so I couldnt find it quickly
@PDH
He!
I will tell her you said that!
Oh my, am not tired anymore looking at your baby. She is like a princess and that baby dress fits her well. Whisper in her ear, she looks like daddy and she doesn't have a choice LOL!
It is incredible how she has grown - I cant actually believe it!
Sunforged, I love this picture. How old is she now?
I have given this a lot of thought. As I am not into automation - just a personal preference, and weighing up the pro's and cons. I am taking the psychological view of attracting the eye. I feel that a font type that stands out from the crowd in the first page or so of google search position is favourable to attracting traffic. Something unusual amongst a boring 'same old' list attracts the eye first and foremost, whilst the bolding element compliments and makes the listing appropriate to the searcher.
I can understand, for you, that these types of characters are a hinderance to the automation process, but for me, I just manually take them out when posting to twitter. And... hey ho, if I don't, someone else's eye will be attracted to the 'mistake' and they might just click!
Good to feed my brain with a challenge though SF. Keep em coming good and fast! lol
Congratulations Mutiny. That is splendid effort. And I would like to congratulate the team as well. They really ruled the front page of HP.
Congrats Mutiny! Awesome job! Can I have some of your energy
Thanks! I am looking forward to the next phase, though. I will research those capstone hubs in the meantime.
I would have linked to that one, but it is far more complicated than my use of "capstone"
Consider my suggestion as - "Table of contents"
-just dont look for Darksides hub on that one either!
❤♡❤ Is there anything more delicious than this pic.
Ayala and the Pup, Im in love! ❤♡❤
Front end of Jake
I didnt even see Zep till you just mentioned that!
and a BIG congratulations to Humagaia on posting hub #100!!!
Wow to the entire team!
Awesome job Mutiny! Way to go Humagaia! And sunforged, I'm loving the beautiful baby pictures. She is just so cute, I know she makes you smile daily.
This team rocks!
Hey all,
I could use a little criticism. I did my first sales hub. I post a forum thread in our forum, and the Extreme Hub Makeover forum also.
Give me any thoughts? It would be much appreciated.
Edit: http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/52598#post1202045
I like it Cags. I personally like separating the various groups with a decorative horizontal line (where appropriate). In my eyes, it breaks up the "groupings" a bit cleaner.
But you did a wonderful job on this!

One thing that I've noticed in my traffic stats is that one particular hub about a particular acoustic guitar - seems to be doing better than other hubs about what I would think would be guitars that are more sought after. So I looked at the hub that is doing so well, and tried to figure out why...

But I am wondering why there seems to be competition in the real google world and no competition showing for it in the external keyword tool world?
