Good first hub, but as a rule, you should use a title that relates to your article, not something like "Jacqui's hub".  You need to look at each article as a separate entity.  The title should be something that shows what the article is about.  Say if you were writing a hub on herbal medicine, the title should be something like, "Common herbal remedies", or "Use of Herbal Medicine in Today's Society".  It lets the reader know what they are going to read about, attracts traffic through search engines, etc.

      Welcome to Hubpages smile
Be active here and you will become more popular than you can imagine smile
When I say active I mean post new things regularly, write some questions that are bugging you, write some answers to questions you know and finally as you did - take part in forum discussions.
Hubpages is more about contributing to the community than getting benefits for yourself, so keep that in mind...

You have been given a lot of good advice previously, I would like to add that Rebecca E. and Katiem2 are good Hubbers to follow if you hope to eventually earn money on HubPages via AdSense. Check out the HubMob after you get your feet wet. Good writing gets chosen for HubNugget Nominations, it is a honor. Hub Points and Karma comes from writing, reading, commenting, Hub Hopping, Q&A and other mysterious criterea.

Welcome & Write On....Keep your titles short enough to be re-Tweeted!

I joined only 4 days ago, but from the wealth of information I've read I think I have something to contribute. Start out with writing hubs consistently (i.e. set yourself a goal for every week), and being active through the forums, answers/questions, checking out other people's hubs, leaving comments, and starting to follow writers you like or share interests with.

Post new hubs regularly without worrying traffic for 1 month. Read useful hubs and forum, then you will get more ideas.

    Welcome to HubPages!

I have some recommended reading for you.

Frogdropping: Beautiful and talented lady has a couple for NEW Hub writers.

    http://hubpages.com/hub/Hubpages-Help
    http://hubpages.com/hub/hubpages-blueprint

When you are finished with those, then move on to....

Darkside: An awesome writer and HubPages resident guru on HubPages.

    http://hubpages.com/hub/how
    http://hubpages.com/hub/capsules
    http://hubpages.com/hub/howhubworks
    http://hubpages.com/hub/Hubscore
    http://hubpages.com/hub/hubpages-works

    That should get you started.

Until you get the hang of it, I would also recommend you visit the Extreme Hub Makeover Forum thread...post a couple of links to your hubs, after they have been published and let the community have at them for critiquing measures.

    It will help you improve.

Other than that...have a great time here. smile big_smile

    Welcome to Hub Pages, JacquiD!

It seems that Cagsil has set you up with some sure-fire links to get you started.

Just keep writing, improving, editing and learning. Most of us are in this same process and benefits appear little by little as we learn.

Welcome to HP!  You've already been given some great links to check out.  I would definitely recommend doing some keyword research if you are writing for money and/or want to get traffic to your hubs.

I checked out your hub and it's great information, but you should break it up, especially the first part - split it up into 2-3 text capsules and use titles/headings to add more interest and keywords...

Ask a lot of questions and read a lot of how-to-hub hubs and you'll catch on before you know it!  There's a lot of infomation overload in the beginning but it will eventually all make sense.  Good luck!

    Welcome!

My only advice as a newbie myself is to jump on in & start writing hubs. You will only really get the hang of things with practice.

Welcome to HP! Like people are saying, read a lot on the forums and read a lot of the hubs on keyword research, etc. But in the end, you have to start writing and experimenting for yourself! I find that you can read things until the cows come home but until you try something for yourself and it either works or doesn't... that it just won't stick.

    Good luck!
