Finally decided to get a Twitter account (username the same as on here, if anyone wants to follow me!) Not really sure what to do or say on there though. I don't want to start posting my hubs and stuff until I've gained some followers, so I'm not really sure what to do other than look for people to follow.

My biggest problem at the moment is that it won't let me upload my own background so I'm stuck with one of their standard boring ones. Anyone have any ideas why that might be? The file is definitely the right size, I'm wondering if I'm missing something????

When you go to the design page...do you hit the "browse button" by the change pic?
Then after you do...it shows your link. Hit the "Save" and it should upload if your pic is the right size.
I created a new twitter account today and had no problems.

Hi!, Sorry I did not read your comment fully.
I believe if you go into your settings section and click
designs. And, look at the bottom to the left you may
be able to use your own designs. Good luck. And,
of course be respectful with your designs.
      Smiles,

That's exactly what I did. It comes up at the top of the page and says that it has made my changes but it hasn't!

Make sure the pic is in the format Twitter asks for...like .jpeg, etc. It has to be right size. You may try to re-submit several times. On another account I have on twitter I had to do this once.
Good luck and I hope you get the pic for Bkg soon.

Checked the format, it's definitely jpg. Checked the size, it says it has to be under 800k, mine is 600-ish. I've tried submitting 7 or 8 times now I would say and still no luck sad

That is weird. Hmmm, I had an easy time today with it.  Twitter is buzzing this evening, maybe that is part of it. All I can suggest now is to sign out, then re-sign in and try again.

I'm not sure about the background sorry. But as per the hubs.

Do you know how to use channels? Basically you put the hash tag (#) in front of a word you want to add to a channel, like #dog.

Then if you click the word you'll see a whole list of every recent tweet containing the word dog. It's a great way to connect with people who have that particular interest.

Ye, I kinda get how they work, I've seen people using them when they've posted onto facebook. It's really annoying seeing them on facebook! So if the same thing gets put after the hash is that how you get trending? Like, the most popular hash tags?

        Yes, basically I think so.

Although when people know the popular ones they just spam that channel.

    Hi everyone -

Sorry to cut in but saw this thread and was wondering - How much success do you find that you have with twitter...

And do you think there are a certain number of followers that would be "ideal"?

Thanks for anyone's help or opinion - I'm still rather "new" to all of this, compared to some of you posting here! I'd appreciate your insight.

There is no such thing like ideal numbers .. its very simple .. there are only 2 ways to get popular on twitter .. post what ppl like ... ur tweets should be interesting enough and the other one is follow ppl .. they will follow u back .. but not everyone follow backs .. u can keep a check on that one as well!!! smile

      Best,
      Ashlee
