Can anyone explain this?

   I can't for the life of me figure this one out. I've been getting crazy traffic to one of my hubs from what "Traffic Sources" in my account tells me is  bing.com. The traffic I've gotten from bing.com ever has been around 18000, but in the past 24 hours, I've gotten around 16,750 visits. The hub I am talking about usually gets only around 0.1% of the visits it has gotten today.
   
   Has anyone had a similar experience? Not sure how one gets so much traffic from a search engine, all of a sudden? I am not sure if I should be happy or sad about this. To be frank, I am concerned!! Would love to hear from more SEO-savvy, knowledgable hubbers on this. Thanks!!

      There may have been a spike in the news interest on the topic. This causes huge organic traffic surges for a short period of time. Check by opening a news capsule on th ehub and see what results come up.May be the explanation is there.
      Just an opinion though.Not an seo expert.

      May be niche of your hubpage in trend at the moment and people are looking for the information on this niche and your hub is ranking for that.

   If you enable Google Analytics with your Hubs, you will be able to get a much better idea of where the traffic is coming from beyond just guessing.

      Relache, thank you for that suggestion. However, the problem I had was with the sudden spurt in traffic from Bing. In my 2 years here, I haven't seen that kind of traffic on a single day. Today, things seem to be back to normal, so I am clueless as to what prompted that sudden surge. Just was trying to get a sense of whether other hubbers have noticed a similar surge in the past or more recently!!

         Relache was right. If you enabled Google Analytics, it would tell you the search term that was used and the URL that was sending the traffic. It's too late now, but you should enable it so that you can figure out this kind of thing in the future.

   Could Bing have linked to your Hub in an article or something like that? 
   
   I'd try an advanced search for a phrase from your Hub restricted to bing.com to see what comes up.
   
   Also - are you getting increased clicks, etc. from the visits?  If not, it might just be a Hubpage calculating glitch.  If you are getting a proportional increase in clicks - Woot!

   Did you check for the keywords? Was it something related to the news as Dale mentioned above?
   
   A few months back someone got that kind of traffic from Yahoo and when he visited Yahoo.com, he found a featured topic on homepage.
   
   Do share with us what exactly was it once you figure out.

   Maybe your hub has simply been promoted to the top of Bing for a popular search phrase, whilst it is nowhere near the top of Google?
   
   Type the most frequently searched keyword (found via hub stats) into Bing, and hey presto, you will probably find your hub sitting pretty at or near to the top. Type the same phrase into Google and it is highly likely that it is nowhere to be found.
   
   They are, afterall, two completely seperate entities. Congrats anyway.

   Thank you all for your suggestions. Well, I guess I've figured this one out. I did go to Bing and searched using the most obvious keyword for this hub of mine, and well, there it was - sitting as the #1 result on the front page

    To answer Starfishfelix, well there was an increase in clicks resulting from the surge in traffic - in fact, had my first $100 plus day from HubPages alone, most of it from this one hub of mine!!
    
    I was worried sick due to the spike in clicks in AdSense, so I sent them a mail - just in case. It was a crazy, crazy day!!

    I would just be thankful that your getting such a boost in your traffic, but analytics is the only way to find out where it's coming from. I had a smaller boost than yours when my hub on full face mountain bike helmets conincided with a Mtn Bike competition.
