Does ones Hubpages proile and sites have to be regitered for tax purposes? or is it just the affiliate earnings and affiliate accounts that get registered for tax. Please help.
Just the affiliates you are working with. Hubpages does not pay you anything, they share income with you.
So you donot have to declare that this is your proifle and these are the sites (each hub page) that are the source of your income?
Thanks livewithrichard. I am ignoant in the mater of taxes so just to calrify..no company can calin ownership of a hubpage profile becasue'it ws registerd' for tax.
Sory about the typos...let me ask that again..
Thanks livewithrichard. I am ignorant in the matter of taxes so just to clarify..no company can claim ownership of a hubpage profile becasue' it ws registered' for tax. in their name.
It's not clear whether your concern is about doing what the law requires as far as taxes are concerned or about making sure someone else doesn't cheat you out of what is rightfully yours - or perhaps even concern about your use of a product's name as your profile ID?
Check with your state's Attorney General's office to see what is required for small businesses. If you wish, talk with SCORE for free business advice. There might be some reason for filing a DBA ("doing business as") statement.
I filed one at the suggestion of a micro-business that I was affiliated with at one time - but in the end there was no need for it, because I lost money on the business and got out of it ASAP. On the other hand, a different business for which I never filed a DBA made decent money, and for years I have been filing tax returns on it as self-employment income without ever incorporating or filing any paperwork to declare myself as a business.
Most successful writers here will tell you it takes months, even years, to make any real money in HubPages. Two days in seems a bit premature to worry about the tax angle, but it is a good idea for you to keep accurate records to look ahead to the day when this will be more than just a nice hobby with a trickle of income.
I think you are asking which URL to use when you signup for the affiliate programs. If that's the case, on the affiliate page in the my account section there are instructions of how to signup and which urls to use.
If you are wondering about which companies report taxes and send you 1099s (in the usa). Those come from our partners - Amazon, Google, eBay.

Not that I was making any money from them, but why has my directly related Amazon product link been snipped in the hub-pro edit ?I could understand snipped competitor products, but what is the point of having ebay / amazon capsules if they are being removed from the niche sites?
