So, as I'm forced to use it, I have been.
The good news is that alterations wise - it just looks more collected. Professional. Nothing obvious software-wise stands out. I'm no techno-geek, that's just my opinion.
The bad? I did a shed load of keyword research recently, using the old interface. I'm know what I'm doing. I recorded useful data. With the new one, the search volumes differ, mostly by a big margin - for the negative, using the same input.
Who's using it? I'd have thought everyone as the old one is done. Thoughts? Opinions?
I will get used to it but the keywords I'd previously identified now appear abysmal.
I also noticed it today as the older version will redirect to the newer one.
I noticed that the new version shows less amount of searches and also the average bid was reduced for some keywords. I wonder why!
I'm using it. It's OK once you get used to it, but a bit clunky. The thing that really annoys me is that you have to sign up for Adwords in order to see the CPC values (unless I'm missing something, which is always possible). Luckily I had a £75 Adwords voucher and a website that needs publicising so I'm all set, at least until the £75 runs out!
Ahhh - as I don't usually bother with the CPC (as in the past it's proved less than reliable) I hadn't noticed that. Hmmmmm ... not an altruistic change then
I don't have an adwords account, but I can see the cpc column. What I haven't come across is the option to download the keywords to an Excel file.
Like most people, I much preferred the old version. I did try this new one when it first came out and wasn't impressed. Not I guess I'll just have to persevere.
Is there a way to change the default $? Mine used to show AU and I could easily change it to US. Now it's defaulted on UK and I'm yet to discover how to change it.
Me, too! I tried the new one and didn't like it at all, so I've been sticking with the previous interface until, low and behold, today it was gone forever.
I had a lot of keyword research to do today and I was not a happy camper! I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but the previous one seemed so much better - why fix what ain't broke?!

EDIT: Darkside, did you try changing the location under the advanced options link (right under the box that you enter your search terms)?
I went back and double checked that. It's for getting more localized search results for those locations. I've been ignoring that one on the old version, and turning it off on the new one because Global search volume is more useful for a Publisher (whereas as an Adwords Advertiser that would be invaluable).
But just in case it did alter the $ value I tried it on the US and Australia, and alas, no change.
While I'm there now I'll have a play around with it some more.
Glen, do you have Market Samurai? After the free trial expires you can still access the keyword tool. Thats what I have been using for the past couple of months, and it displays the Adwords cpc (in US Dollars).
So far as I'm aware, you can alter the currency providing you have an account. I figured I'd stop just relying on the software quite as much as I used to a while ago, when I saw the change coming - though for sure I didn't really think they'd kill the original version off.
For the record - search assist has been very good for me. And requires no real keyword research. Try it. I think it was Misha that first enlightened me as to what it was I was using/doing

Can someone explain to me in plain English what competition means with regard to us?It says there that it gives an indication of how many advertisers are bidding for a keyword. But what does that mean?I always thought high competition meant that too many webpages are after the same keyword, but now...

...guess what? It seems that unless I'm missing something, you now need to have an AdWords account to get the keyword tool to show the estimated average CPC for a keyword/phrase. If you don't have an AdWords account, you can *sort* by CPC, but you can't actually view the CPC column any...
