Submitting URL to 'Less Known" search engine directories

   We all know search engines like Google,yahoo, bing, and etc are all major search engines. We get indexed by these sites. I was wondering has anyone submitted their URL to "Less Known" Search engines before.
   
   I just submitted to a few sites that are not as popular, but I was like what the heck. They probobly won't index me otherwise. Not sure if this would help in the long run or not

      Ya i think it is great idea to increase visitors on your hub.Few sites are less populat but by using them some visitors come to our page that's good.I think it is very good idea

   The Internet world is like this - the elephant in the room is Google, everyone else is the size of a flea, if you are Bing you are the size of a bumble bee.
   
   Your friends here gave you the right guidance - the back links are the very best.

   The small engines always get their sources from the main search engines anyway.  So you get listed on Google, you will be listed all over.

   Well, there are a couple "lesser known" search engines (for English speakers) that might be worth it.
   
   Baidu, Rediff, Guruji, and there's a Russian one, but it's tough to be accepted.

   I had a horrific experience with something like this, about two and a half to three years ago.
   
   I was pretty new to the online world in a professional sense and had one in particular really successful site. (It wasn't a Hub.) Where I was living at the time, there was a local, "Whizzkid," whom I got on fairly well with and he recommended me this, "Magical," tool that would submit my site to the most wonderful thing since sliced bread of a search engine and bring me untold success....
   
   It took me no more than a minute to submit it. Since then? That site has effectively been laid to rest. Traffic nosedived and it has never since had one solitary hit from Google, where before it was performing really well.
   
   The moral of the story is: be very, very careful. Although everyone and everything has to generally start from humble beginnings, the chances are that if it is low in popularity, it is low in popularity for a reason...

      WOW! This had never occurred to me. Thank you for sharing this. I guess I will stay out of the “back alleys”.
      
      Edit: Seems like the internet has more and more booby traps every time I turn around.

   I would NOT BE #1 for the Keyword 'Kakaflewder' in West Outer Mongolia.... If it hadn't been for that $1000 that I spent on the agent who listed me with tertiary search engines and ensured me that my presence would grow after electricity is made available to the masses
   
   I have had many proposals with great dowries like Yurts and Dried Yak Manure since... but I think it's the same person just pretending.. but hey... she's managed to pluck those facial hairs over the last month.... (Very strange tho.. really does look abit like my agent)
   
   Well Worth it

   All small search engines get the results from Google. If you target yahoo and Bing its good but targeting to small pond rather than SEA.
