Do you Dyson?

   In a lecture today it was apparent that the Dyson make of vacumn cleaner was extremly popular. Three students from abroad, India, Cyprus and South Africa had never heard of it.
   So fellow hubbers, do you hoover the carpet or do you dyson it?

      Yep, it is necessary to maintain clenliness and Dyson is there for us.

      I have a Dyson and love it.  It is the best vacuum I have ever owned.

   From those that I know who have tried it, I heard it is not a great product.
   
   Then again I have hardwood floors and haven't vacuumed in a long time

      good to know. I dont know anbody who has one, very expensive. I am a little cautious of bagless vacuums. In my expierence they are a pain in the ass. We are workign on putting in hardwood. Carpet is disgusting.

   we have wood in the hall and one bedroom- i think the lounge is next-
   its just that my other half is  a carpenter and they do everyones work except their own!

   I have had two Dysons, but not planning on anymore.  They seemed good at first, but neither of them lasted longer than 2 years. That is quite bad considering they both cost upwards of £200

      I had two also, but the first one they replaced under warranty when it failed after a year.
      The second one failed after I took it out to Spain with me, and of course the warranty was null and void in a foreign country.
      Except for them failing, I thought they were great machines. Best vacuum cleaners I ever had.

      I talked with the owner of a vacuum cleaner shop who also has a repair shop and he said about half of the machines needing repair are dysons. he said they're not worth the money even though he sells them because people want them.
      
      he also said canisters are the easiest and most efficient.

   I said the same with kids, but then i had another!
   Do you know that when they first came out Dyson allowed all the sales assistants to buy one really cheap so they were all recommeding them to people cos they had one

    I have a bagless vacuum, a Bissell, and it's a pain to deal with when the filters (there's 3 of them) need cleaning.  I'm actually not too sure it's good anymore...the last time I vacuumed there was a nasty smell due to the filters being put back WET.  not good!!  I'll find out as soon as the filters are dry and I can vacuum again.....btw, I'd rather sweep!

    I've always wanted a Dyson, but have never been able to get myself to spend that kind of money.  I used to have a cleaning lady who used a Dyson and I was amazed at how well it worked.  I had to buy a new vacuum when I moved a few years ago and I took my sister's advice and went with a canister, a Kenmore.  I hate it!  Not because it doesn't work well but because having to pull the dang canister behind me everywhere is a real pain in the butt!  I sure hope the price of the Dysons go down some day...I just can't justify it no matter how much I want one!

    i noticed the hubpage post about dyson vacz.  i have 2- and will never own one again.  do they have suction? absolutely- untill some lint clogs the tunnel, then you try to clean clog out and the flimsy plastic rod that opens the canister bottom door gets out of track and you dont know its off track until you cant open the %&^# thing again and the dyson folks tell you to pry it open and break the expensive canister lid- and then you need the new wind tunnel and etc. all because you cant replace the little trap door only-
    p.s. that was after i spent almost $100 on replacing the filters-(1 was supposed to never need replacing) 2 screws-and a rubber ring

    I Dyson. Yes they are expensive, but I have had no problems with mine in 4 years of use. I clean it after every use and follow routine maintenance per the manual. With a dog in the house I wouldn't use anything but Dyson. Years ago, I had a Hoover upright that I got when I was in college (it was made of metal and built to last.) It served me for over 20 years! They just don't make 'em like that anymore!

    They seem needlessly expensive. (And Dyson sounds so stuck up in the commercials.) I don't want to buy something just because it's an "elite brand", I want to buy something that works to clean my house--and lasts a reasonably long period of time before needing to be replaced.

    When I needed a new vacuum about 11 years ago, I consulted Consumer Reports and purchased the one that came in #1 in their tests, which was a Hoover. It worked great and lasted 10 years. When it went kaput, I again consulted Consumer Reports, and their #1 ranked vacuum was still a Hoover, so I got that one again. This was last year. I don't know which one tops ther list now.
    
    My Hoover uses bags. Bagless vacuums are a dirty, messy pain in the rear, IMHO.
    
    Dyson was about a fourth or a third of the way down the CR list, if I recall correctly.

    I have hardwood floors.  I have Ebay "oriental" carpets scattered all around my home.  Gimme $500+, and I'll do Dyson any ole day.  Otherwise, I'll stick to my Bissell until it falls apart.

    I Dyson, and mine has lasted over 4 years without any issues. I previously went through three Infinity vacuum within a month that claimed to work like a Dyson vacuum. Those were great while they lasted, but my Dyson gets the job done well, without fail.
