Aren’t all those hubs and forum posts that hawk religion spam?
Why aren’t they deleted just like all the other spam?
Just asking.
Some folks enjoy spam.
spam, spam and eggs
eggs spam spam and eggs
etc...
some people like to give their "sales pitch" constantly, which is annoying - particularly a few christians and a muslim that quote huge chunks of verses
I suggest that the religion forum should be a trap. Anyone who starts a thread there should get banned automatically. It would be a great way to capture religious spammers.
.
In all fairness, I have concluded that many religionists are intelligent. And even more important; they are ethical.
I would not go as far as intelligents, as atheist (per capita) are higher on the scale for ethics, intellect and science.
If someone tells me they are very intelligent, then it’s more likely they are not.
Not being an atheist neither a Christian, I have no interest or stake to prove to you that atheist are well known for carrying their strength by science and Christian by their Cross.
Part of my job is building display in top museum for 35 years and study great men in history. Also found a higher number of atheist scientist and higher number of atheist intellectual writers (per capita). A variety of perspectives in philosophy, social science and human nature that practice that focuses on human values of reason, ethics, and justice.
Ethics- -If you check the US prison records its Christian that are 10% per capita higher than atheist as inmates. We know war is greatly tooled by religion and the greedy.
I won’t get into atheist downsides or Christian up sides
All I can say for both extreme sides of the poles, it will shirk in the future.
Just our of curiosity, and I do not know the answer. But since you rub elbows with intellectuals, and the premier intelligent and beautiful people among society, I would think that your vast and superior intellect would know.
What is the percentage of Christians to Atheists in the demographics of the American population?
Christians to Atheists in the demographics of the American population?
There is 34.2 million Americans (15.0%) claim no religion and the US who don't believe in a god to be about 9% (0.5%) professing agnosticism.
Christian 78% of all version of the Bible, Only 3% attends church regularly.
Note, (12%) Negros has a much better chance to be on the voting ballot for many level of Government in public office, than atheist.
So the discrepancy in prison population is a fraction and not a good analogy concerning ethics between believers and unbelievers.
Reality
Don't get me wrong, I love the USA as much as anywhere.
I did a job in Sheboygan WI, Per capita they had more bars combined with churches than anywhere city in the USA. I guess the idea is to wash their sins away. IF the USA has not one word written God in their constitution and still the attitude is of a Christian Nation. Along with it being more Christian than other westernized country, and by far more resembles Sodom and Gomorrah than any other place in the world. Is that considered a clue for ethics?
I am not a Christian, nor do I consider this a Christian nation.
I have met many Religious people that are highly intelligent and ethical. I treat each human that I meet as an individual and I disapprove of placing individuals in a group and then casting judgement on the group.
It's encouraging to hear that. Sadly, in this section of the forums it's difficult not to sound sarcastic with my comment, but I do mean it literally.
.
However, the spam issue still remains. Right or wrong?
Is there still a universally accepted definition of Spam? The term has broadened in scope over the years. First it meant "Unsolicited Commercial E-mail." The unsolicited part applies here, but the other aspects fail, even for all of the other posts that we agree to call spam, since they are not e-mail.
If we include all unsolicited and unwanted posts as spam, there is very little in the forums that would not fit someone's definition of spam. IMO.
I'll take the bait and then run away. Too much time in forums today already.
Some of the forum posts that promote one specific type of religious perspective do resemble the commercial posts that we can agree to call spam. I would have no problem in deleting them - that is, the ones that I would agree to call spam - but I'm not sure everyone could agree on which ones fit the spam category.
The blurry line IMO is in the area where people who enjoy discussing religion will toss out an idea for discussion. There are likely some others who would prefer not to have to bother with ignoring such threads; some would like to bury all religious threads altogether.
Where would you draw the line between acceptable discussion and spam?
Aren’t all those hubs and forum posts that hawk religion spam?
Why aren’t they deleted just like all the other spam?
Just asking.
Really just curious.
Should I post elseware?
Wikipedia:
SPAM:
Forum spambots surf the web, looking for guestbooks, wikis, blogs, forums and any other web forms to submit spam links to the web forms it finds. These spambots often use OCR technology to bypass CAPTCHAs present. Some spam messages are targeted towards readers and can involve techniques of target marketing or even phishing, making it hard to tell real posts from the bot generated ones. Not all of the spam posts are meant for the readers; some spam messages are simply hyperlinks intended to boost search engine ranking.
Most forum spam consists of links to external sites, with the dual goals of increasing search engine visibility in highly competitive areas such as weight loss, pharmaceuticals, gambling, pornography, real estate or loans, and generating more traffic for these commercial websites. Some of these links contain code to track the spambot's identity if a sale goes through, when the spammer behind the spambot works on commission.
Spam posts may contain anything from a single link, to dozens of links. Text content is minimal, usually innocuous and unrelated to the forum's topic, or in a very old thread that is revived by the spammer solely for the purpose of spamming links. Some text is included to prevent the post being caught by automated spam filters that prevent posts which consist solely of external links from being submitted. Full banner advertisements have also been reported.[by whom?]
Alternately, the spam links are posted in the user's signature, in which case the spambot will never post. The link sits quietly in the signature field, where it is more likely to be harvested by search engine spiders than discovered by forum administrators and moderators.
Religious Beliefs:
Religious belief refers to a mental state in which faith is placed in a creed related to the supernatural, sacred, or divine. Such a state may relate to the existence, characteristics and worship of a deity or deities, divine intervention in the universe and human life, or values and practices centered on the teachings of a spiritual leader. In contrast to other belief systems, religious beliefs are usually codified.[
While the term religious belief is often considered to have the same meaning as religion, the latter term usually deals with both ideas and practices. Religious belief can be seen as a focus exclusively on ideas.
It does not seem to equate to the same thing?

Suggestion: could a moderator scan the posts on the Topical Forums and remove the spam casino/gambling posts? There are too many to report, but someone could sort it out in a few minutes a day.

Why are people so quick to attack others beliefs? This forum is a prime example! Whenever I click on any forum post, it is filled with condescending word wars! It seems like most of us have absolutely no respect for one another on here. I can't speak for everyone, but Christians, aren't we supposed...

This seems to be an issue. There is a forum beating Christians over the head so I decided why not be fair?

The hypothetical part:Say HP were cheesed off enough to think 'The religion sub-forum takes up too much valuable staff time, it's got to go'The non-hypothetical part:You spend most if not all of your time in the above forum, warring with words etc etc. You may (or may not) have written a few hubs....
