I gotta get this off my chest....Networks like FOX and even CNN absolutely reek of heavy bias in their reporting...i cant believe most people watch and accept what these networks say as fact..but i know there are some good ones out there!
I accept that everything will have some degree of spin worked into it, but since the hub community is very international, i thought id toss this out there to see if theres any networks out there that im missing.
For the record, the best news agency i can think of at the moment is actually Al Jazeera, consistently good reporting without strongly choosing sides on most issues.
Al Jazeera is the best news agency? What PLANET are you from?? I will take Fox any day of the week...Yes, I do find Fox fair and balanced...unlike some people...WHATEVER!
From all I have heard Al Jazeera does seem like one of the least biased... definitely if you compare it to Fox...
I don't think there is any media agency or journalist that could honestly answer they are non biased towards their topics. It's human nature to have a view point and want to express that view point and persuade others to your cause.
In the four free to air major news channels in Australia I really couldn't single out any particular agency. I am aware of FOX news very strong conservative views in the US and the ABC (Australia) is known for supporting Labour.
Here in Canada, we have the luxury of getting our news from both the Canadian networks [CBC, and CTV], and a number of smaller networks. Plus we can watch all the U.S. news outlets, and many international sources as well.
One thing is very clear...the U.S. reporting of world events is VERY skewed and spin-doctored. You viewers in the U.S. are getting a very limited perspective on what's really happening, especially if the U.S. is involved in the story.
The CBC here is about the most even-handed, and the BBC is probably similarly fair. However, the news channels are all covering the same stories, so it's inevitable that some spin is being put on each story to differentiate themselves from the competition.
I always wondered who the person was that listened to NPR. Well, riddle solved.
Agreed. NPR is the only major source for unbiased news reports.
The BBC - bias is impossible to avoid for many reasons but at least they appear to refrain from deliberately mis-informing in the way that Fox news does. It is also less nationalistic than CNN that actively promotes clear bias through just not reporting world events of significance that are not in the direct interest of the US.
The news media generally is just another means of control for the vested interests of the very wealthy in the west and the people in control in Asia generally. I see little difference in the western promotion of misinformation and the eastern control of the media - in the end both methods are to the same effect and ends.
Al Jazeera has managed to offend Saudi Arabia, USA, Iran and Israel. So they must be doing something right!
The BBC still tries to maintain standards but it suffers from underfunding which results in poorer research and checks, so sometimes, e.g. the recent siege in Thailand, standards slip badly.
MSNBC, They made love to Clinton who is... a moderate... they talk about current policies and Obama politics with ....... hmm crap... well maybe CNN... hmmm must give us pause... maybe BBC, oh socialism, right... Well hmm all together having them all stacked against Fox, that seems fair and balanced right?
Yea i do like CBC as well...
im amazed that some people are actually saying Fox is their favorite! anybody who can watch Bill O Rielly without pulling their hair out needs to be committed
lol I do like Hannity & Colmes from time to time. Watching them on their own, not so much. Rush is fun in that he manages to find things that I have to seriously dig to find and manages to be entertaining even when he is bombastic. I have gotten tired of spin in general and so when I want news these days I keep tabs on Reuters. I then collect as many points of view on the events I am interested in and usually figure that the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Why do so many people hate Fox News? There are many biased channels that do not receive the negative statements Fox News receives. Whether you believe Fox News is biased or not, why does it receive so much negative attention?

It's funny how liberals are always talking about how FOX lies, but they don't think MSNBC does. I try to watch a little of all the news in order to get a somewhat balanced picture. The other night, Debbie Wasserman Schultz said on MSNBC that PACs, special interest groups, and big business are not...

In discussions here on HubPages, a common topic arises when discussing the media. In most circles, people believes what they read and see on TV. That is why we Conservatives don't trust the media for providing the truth...because we know who we are and the media is mis characterizing conservatives...

Which news channel is least biased?

Why do people keep using biased mainstream media as their only news source?News channels such as CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc are clearly biased and don't give all the information, yet I know countless people that use those as their only news source(s). If people actually went to other news sources, such...
